When it does not start you need to verify no fuel pressure, Most likely your problem is the wiring harness is bad which will destroy a new pump if the pump is not geting the voltage required.

90 yj only 70k on it sat for 2 years. 4.2 carb, ran one day now hard start, runs for 15 min. then dies. cant restart unless kept in start position. not ign. switch, fuel pump, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, or...

Check the fuel for a presence of water. I'm sure there was a recall notice on the gasket on top of the fuel tank where the sending unit mounts. My YJ sat for a year and had water in the tank from this leaking. Drain and drop the tank, replace the gasket, and reinstall.

Engine cranks, but won't start. Car has gas-Confirmed. Air Filter clean. Problem developed over several days. (i.e. harder & harder to start each day.) No problem noticed in engine/vehicle performance...

test replace the fuel pump relay, make sure the relay socket has 12 volts to 2 of it's terminal when the key is held in crank position, if not you may have a defective ignition switch or Powertrain control module (PCM)

1995 AUDI 90 CS - Hard to start... spark & fuel OK

Have you tried replacing the starter? I know starters can go bad if the car is not started or run for a long time.

I am getting the same car, with the same issue.. it sat for 2 yrs and won't start.

My mechanic told me it is probably a starter.

95 jeep yj wont start

have you checked the fuel pump ? the fuel pump is in the fuel tank and it may be that the fuel guage inside the tank is broken and or not attached to the pump. This is a big job but with a little help from buddys and a bit patients it can be repaired.
