Put it at top dead center, also when you remove the cover rotate until mark on crank gear lines up with mark on oil pump housing ,it right behind the gear, also you will see notches on the cam gears and the rear cover those should also line up when crank gear is aligned, sometime marks on cams are 180 degrees off which just means crank has to be turn one more time, then double mark gears that all, good luck.

Have to add coolent very often on 2000 Honda 4 cly lx model recently had waterpump, timing belt work done, they found no leaks, but this is happening now and also prior to when the work was done, what...

It's possible that the head gasket is blown. Symptoms of a blown head gasket are:
  1. Lots of white smoke from exhaust
  2. if equipped with auto transmission, check the dipstick- if the fluid is foamy, this is another example of a blown head gasket
It's best to bring the car to a shop and have a pressure test done on it. If there is a leak elsewhere, it should show under pressure.

I have replaced timing belt and head gasket after having a blown head gasket set tdc and all timing marks but motor backfires and almost starts but will not please help me

Sounds like the timing is 180 degrees out. You would have to unhook the belt and turn the crank 360 degrees and put the belt back on. I hope this helps!

91 2.0 subaru legacy, needs head gasket and timing blet replacement. how do i repair?

If you're not a very experienced mechanic, take the car to one. You're going to be pulling off the cylinder head, which requires a LOT of teardown just to get to that point. The way you set up the engine before disassembling even the first bolt is critical, and there are about a hundred little tricks and techniques you're going to need to know before you do such a job.

Here's a photo of my wife's car from this past weekend (copy and paste into your browser) - I replaced the head gasket on her Honda Civic. This was several hours' worth of teardown and cleaning in preparation for installing the new gasket (the new head gasket is in the picture, lying flat with the four large holes for the pistons):

There are specific two-step torque sequences and patterns for reinstalling the head that are crucial to do properly or it'll never seal. I'm sure the information on how to do it, step by step, but if you're going to tackle the job, you'll need a lot of time, an extensive tool set, step by step instructions and torque specs for many of the subassemblies, quite a few new parts (head gasket, head bolts/studs, manifold gaskets, timing belt, timing tensioner, accessory belts, water pump, thermostat, all fluids (since they'll be drained before starting), etc etc etc). It's a huge job and one that is easy to screw up, and on a teardown of this level, one mistake can be all you need to destroy the engine.

Timing belt

Well basicaly there is no adjustment it has timing marks and the belt goes on with the marks on the points.cam pulley has a stamped mark up with line marks that go evenly one on each side has to be even with top of the head.crank pulley the woodruff key goes straight up facing the cam pulley. The balance pulley has a v mark on the pulley and a mark on the block and those go together, dont worry about the water pump there is not timing mark on that.Good Luck

92 honda accord lx dies when put on brakes at a stop

Sounds like your timing belt is one tooth off on the cam, this I have seen before especially if it is a twin overhead cam. One tooth off will make it idle really low when stopping at the light especially if the engine is warm.
