Hello theevilmexic: My name is Roger and I will answer your question. In order to replace the fuel pump. You must drop the fuel tank. The pump is in the gas tank. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank, siphon off as much fuel as you can out of the tank as at 8 lbs a gallon a 1/2 a tank is heavy
also be sure to disconnect the battery, as a spark is a terrible thing to waste.

have you checked all fuses under the hood? have you checked the fuel pump relay? you may be able to swap the fuel pump relay with amother relay in the fuse box.are you getting power into and out of the reset switch? from there it goes to the fuel pump. if power is getting to the fuel pump and it has a good ground, the the pump is bad.

Disconnect the battery & any fuel lines you can and the same with electrical connectors first of all. Drain the tankwith a siphon pump if 3 gallons or more of fuel is present. It gets heavy to replace back in and dangerous too.. Have the tank supported now & remove the bolts from the tanks mounting straps. Drop the tank down about 6 inches and check for other connection that need to be removed
RFemove the center retainer to remove the fuel pump with the sending unit
I would replace both items since it is an older car and also replace the filter sock to the pump too
Reverse this procedure to install
