OK took it to a shop. Says injector is bad. Also says he has to clean the other 5 injectors? So an $80 part turns into a $500 repair?Really?

The only thing left is the injector or a vacuum leak on the manifold gasket sucking air in and causing a lean condition. Thats is its the only common issue providing you dont have a head gasket issue leaking coolant on that cylinder and the compression and valves are not leaking. The old spark plug should show a coolant issue if present. The white part will be shiney if you have a coolant loss. If the coolant is looking real dark you should have the cooling system checked for gas being pushed into the cooling system on compression stroke thru the head gasket.

we charge $120 to do an injector service. The part does cost a set price but we would do a service first hoping it woulld clean up the bad injector. If it did not then we would replace it at a cost of about an hour labor, so a diag to recommend and do a injector service after other items were ruled out would be about $200. Then to replace the injector would be cost of part, say $80 and labor, say $100 ....$500 does seem a little steep but really not out of range if you like and trust your mechanic.

Try checking the knock sensor and clean the throttle plate inside and out and also the back of the throttle plae, many times the plate sticks from back firing that you can't detect by ear or feel. Also could have a plugged cay.

Testimonial: "Thank you for all your help! Where can you find this Lucas treatment? Had a good friend replace the one it is running like a champ again! Thanks alot!"

The injector you could of replaced and the cleaning the other injectors is easy buy lucas gas treatment for 12.95 and put it in a tank of fresh preimum fuel and just have them replace the one and walk away. you did not rate me are you upset at me? The shop is hungry, the price is silly. But be aware that you may need new injectors down the road, the best solution is to replace them. However with one bad injector if it blows up your engine is destroyed Jsut remember that.

You can find it in most parts store orilys formally schucks or autozone or if you can'yt find iit there check walmart on line or any oil jobber in your aera or a Transmisson shop will carry it for transmissons and gas I would bet but if you don't find it let me know and give me your zip and I will look it up for you. I wanted to add that the injecter being defective could destroy the cat. If you continue driveing it, thats why you have the flashing check engine light. And be aware that if one injector is bad the others are not to far behind Like the other expert said $80.00 for the hook up of scanner is normal shop time and remove and replace the injector is $100.00 and injector is $80.00 so $280.00 is about right but if he is going to remove and clean the other injectors I would rather he replace then I know it is expensive but if the injecter dies it could destroy the engine, so you will have to weigh that into account, If you are going to keep the car then try to plan to replace then all as soon as yo can. Since the fuel rail is charged with up to 50 PSI if the inecter goes south (Fails) it can wash out the cylinder and destroy the cylinder or crank or both and will cost you a new engine. The price to do the repair right would equal 2 to 3 car payments. compared to buying a new car. Thanks for rating sir and I suggest you look at our profiles and or expertise and read other suggestions on manitence as well. It could save you before hand, And thanks for rating us sir.

2004 Ford Focus 2.0 SOHC. What is the fix for P0606 and P0303 codes please?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

The P0606 fault code means that there's an error with your power control module (PCM). Your PCM is the computer inside your car that monitors all the vital systems. Basically, it's the brain of your car. Every time you start the car, the PCM runs a series of checks to make sure everything is okay.

How to Fix the P0606 Fault Code - Solo Auto Electronics

What the P0303 code means. The P0303 DTC is set when the ECU detects multiple misfires from cylinder 3. Misfires cause the ECU to set the Check Engine Light and put the vehicle into a failsafe mode to prevent damage. The Check Engine Light will remain until the code is repaired.

Codes p0171 p0303 p0325 car missing

p0171 = fuel system too lean, this means vacuum leak or faulty oxygen sensor

p0303 = cylinder 3 misfire

p0325 = knock sensor malfunction.

p0303 and p0325 - i can see these working together, if a cylinder misfires, it will cause the knock sensor to trip. I would lean towards the coil and or ignition module, along with a faulty oxygen sensor.

Terraza P0303 Code. What's most likely cause? Injector, spark plug, wires or any of the above?

Might be dirty injector or burned valve. Check the connector on the injector. If good, run a compression test on all cylinders. If compression is significantly lower on #3, the head will have to come off. If compression is good, pull up the injector rail with injectors and wiring attached. Watch the injectors spray as someone cranks the engine.

I changed my spark plugs and afterwards the chech engine light came on. the jeep runs great. what can make that happen?

IT could be something such as a loose plug wire. The best advise I can give you is to take your jeep to your local auto parts store and have them pull the codes out of your on board computer. This will give you an area that you can concentrate on to make the necessary repairs to get your check engine light to go out.

Kinda putters then engine light came on and its giving me a code p0303

p0303 is a mutible engine misfire on number 3 cylinder. the best fix,

A code P0303 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • Faulty spark plug or wire
  • Faulty coil (pack)
  • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
  • Faulty fuel injector
  • Burned exhaust valve
  • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
  • Running out of fuel
  • Poor compression
  • but first of all check the wires and sparkplugs first!

Car keeps giving p0303 code.

Code P0303 means that there is a misfire detected on cylinder #3. This could becaused by anything from a worn out spark plug to a blown cylinder head gasket, a faulty fuel injector, a bad ignition coil, or a leaking intake manifold gasket. I have also seen this type of code caused by clogged-up EGR ports in the intake manifold on certain engines. "Freeze Frame Data" stored in your Engine computer along with the fault code is designed to help identify what engine conditions (high speed/slow speed, heavy load/light load, etc.) are producing the misfire. This helps a lot in identifying exactly what is causing the cylinder to misfire.

One way to eliminate some of the possible causes is to swap parts with another cylinder to see if the code changes.

If you have "Coil-On-Plug" ignition, you can swap the coil on #3 cylinder with the coil on #4 Cylinder and swap the #3 spark plug with the #2 spark plug. Then clear the codes and drive the car till the Check Engine (or Service Engine Soon) light comes back on.

If it still gives you P0303, then it is not being caused by the plug or the coil. It could be any of the other possible causes listed above.
If it now gives you P304, replace the bad ignition coil that is now on #4 cylinder.
If it now gives you P302, Then replacement of all the spark plugs is recommended.

1999 jeep cherokee 6 cylinder engine light

1.Plugs
2. Vacuum leak
3. Injector fault
4. High or low fuel pressure.
Thats the list of things to check.
This is a #3 cylinder misfire.
There is also TSB about #3 injector needing added heat protection. This could definitely be the cause. I start at plugs and go from there.
Hope this helps.
Thank you,
