Yes there is a oil pump in your engine you need to change the oil every 3000 miles or three months this will keep your engine clean but as far as help go all i can tell is that you need to take your car to a good shop and have them check out the inside of the engine so may have a serious problem.

Hearing a very loud ticking sound coming from under the valve cover of my bmw 3251 I changed the oil and noticed that i had been running on low oil. While it idled that day it spuddered and died. Why?

Does it change when you rev the engine?
**You'll need to get this checked quickly.**
If you have run the engine on very low oil you could have dried out the valve lifters. These push the valves open. If these dry out the top end of the engine could lock up doing 'expensive' damage like bending valves or twisting rockers.

2002 volvo V40 wagon oil light stays on and engine is very loud

Don't drive your car!
If by 'loud' you mean there's knocks and rumbles - that sounds like serious damage caused by zero or low oil pressure. If there's no terminal damage yet caused by a lack of oil pressure .. there soon will be.

Don't drive your car. Get somebody qualified to have a look at it first. Your oil pressure warning light is on because there's no oil pressure. You're liable to destroy the engine (very quickly) if you run it with no oil pressure.

The first thing you should do is check your engine oil level. Make sure that the oil level reaches 'full' on the dipstick.

If your oil level has been unacceptably low - top up and start the engine. The oil warning light should go out within a couple of seconds. If not - it points at a problem elsewhere. Don't run your engine with the oil light on. Get a second opinion.

Did you check the oil pressure switch? Are you getting a low oil light?

Engine tick with timing seems off but no check engine light.

If you ran it low find out where the oil is going leaks seal's put a large piece of card board under your vehicle tonite and check in the morning.do not move until you check. As far as the tick that sounds like a bad valve lifter or damage to your engine.

Low oil pressure when engine gets warm it starts to rattle

Rattle or knock, light knock is sign of a worn wrist pin on a piston. A tick is a valve lash
adjustment and a rattle or hard knock may be a worn main bearing. I had a chevy which had a bad wrist pin and I just cleaned a spark plug once a week and changed it. Drove it for a year that way. Just keep up with the oil level and drive under 45 if possible.

Changed the oil on my 2006 accent one week ago. Have made a few 50 mile trips since the change with no problems and no leakage. Today on the highway the oil and engine lights came on. Loud valve-type...

Have the vehicle properly diagnosed... it could very well be the oil pump - don't risk burning up the engine by oil starvation... get someone to check the oil pressure.

Engine knocking, valve ticking loud in engine, when idle or drivi

Make sure the oil level is good, and have the oil pressure check by a garage or someone who can, by using a external gauge to see what the actual oil press is. Low oil pressure will give you the ticking, start there.

1995 gmc jimmy... heavy clunking and low kpa oil pressure

Your oil pump is bad or you have a restriction in the oil system. The noises are you bearings in the engine starving for oil. If you drive this vehicle before repair you will need a new engine or rebuild that one. I don't know how much damage is done and the bottom end may already be beyond a simple repair. Worst case you will need to have the engine rebuilt.
