2001 Chrysler Town & Country. When turn key to start car I often get no response and no sound (no clicking) for several tries. Car then starts okay. Installed new battery and starter but problem persists.
Two things to try, If you have a second origional key try that first. If the problem still persists, you will need to take the vehicle to a reputable garage to have the problem diagnosed. You could have a bad key and the theft deterent system is causing the problem or it could be a bad ignition switch or start relay.
There are three things to check:the relay under the hood in the fuse box, swap it with one that you no works.Next would be to check the ignition switch, you can do that with a test light.Take the relay back out and check to see if there is power to either pin 85 or 86 in the reley connecter. The next place to go would be the safety switch on the transsmission. Before you do any of this check the ground cable that bolts to the side of the head,it may have been left off when the starter was replaced.
