Yes, there is a relay and sometimes also a fuse, check the fuse relay box under the hood, on the box cover will have a fuse diagram. Also check the vehicle hand book for dash fuse box location and diagram.

fuses are located in the engine compartment. next to the Engine Air Filter Housing behind the battery, in front of the suspension strut tower. for a picture/diagram try going to this website, it maybe helpful; www.jeeppatriot.com

Engine bay has 2 fuse boxes the small fuse box situated in engine bay appears to have 2 large relays which are ABS PUMP AND ABS CONTROL . BIG FUSE BOX has a ABS diode listed as no 9

Go to a Freelander owners club on Google or Facebook , they will be able to help you as most will have their books or the Haynes repair manuals.
It should show the Fuse index on the actual plastic of the fuse box cover thou.

Remove fuse box cover and check if cover has a schematic on it. The flasher fuse is usually square and rather large (around 1 square inch). Most covers state the purpose of each fuse. I personally recommend that you purchase an after market service manual which are under 20 bucks. If money is tight all public libraries have a great collection of auto repair manuals.. Good Luck

First off, not all the slots need a fuse. Some are dummy slots for options your car may not have. Next check your hand book, should be in the glove box. That book will tell you where what fuse does what. Next, what on the car does not work? Look closely at the fuse box for a description of the fuse that goes there. If you do not have the hand book try a auto parts store for a manual stand there and read it till to memorize it go outside and look at you cars fuses.

If you know where the central fuse box is located, check inside the removable cover; they often have the fuse locations named and shown there.
