Hi,

Thanks for using fixya.

Sorry but for security reasons (to avoid parts or car theft) there is no way for you to pop the hood manually. You need a mechanic to have this fixed. This problem is caused by wear and tear in the hood release mechanism or a snapped hood release cable line. I hope this helps.

Thanks and have a nice day.

How to pop hood from outside of 2004 chevy trailblazer

You cannot release the bonnet from the outside.

In any case the key should open the driver's door manually. You will need to turn it either once or twice in succession. If it will not open then pull on the handle and turn the key in the lock at the same time.

I have a 2002 vw cabrio. The plastic lever on the lower left drivers side that pops the hood open is not working. When you pull it, it doesn't feel attached to anything & I can't pop the hood open. My car...

Easy fix after you get hood open. They are very substantial latches for security reasons. Does the handle pull the cable all the way out? Hopefully the cable has broken near the Handle and the outer houseing can be pealed away from the cable up to the fire wall. Then a vicegrip plier can be used to grip the pull cable. and unlatch the hood.

Hood release inside car isn't working

yes actually, you might need to lay on your back with a pair of pliers though, when you pull on the hood-release handle under the dashboard, you will see a wire cable behind the plastic handle, grip that wire with the pliers and pull till you hear the hood pop, then adjust the cable from under the hood to remain shorter.(it's stretched a bit over time is all)

My S-430 hood will not open even after I pull the hood latch in the car

Common, providing the release is actually hooked up, just get someone to tap on the hood when you pull the lever, should pop up, if not the handle and or cable may have broke, then you get to do a little fishing with a hook pick and a screw driver to manually release the cable through the grille,,.

The interior hood release isnt working is there a way to relase the hood manually from outside the truck on a 2010 toyota tundra

try this, have another person push down on the hood in the front of your truck, while they apply downward pressure, pull hood release out, keep the hood release pressure pulled out, tell the other person to let up on hood, then release the pressure you have on the hood release handle and hood should pop up.if this does'nt work, you have a broken hood release cable.that means you'll have to get on the ground under front of truck and reach up to the hood release cable with pliers and pull the cable release manually.good luck hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

The latch in car still pulls like always and the hood outside you can hear it click, but hood will not open!

suggest you lube the locking switch under the hood with wd40.also lube the pull handle under the dash with wd40. sometimes it may take 2 people to do this. lube the locking mechanism under hood first. then pull the release handle and spray the wd40 on the rod behind the lever to insure that it gets lubricant to cable. some times you may need to adjust the spring under hood also, simply spray it with wd40 and push upward on the round spring thats attached to the hood, work it upwards with minimal force. continue to spray it while you push it upwards, this will loosen the spring, which will let it do what it's supposed to do when you pull the release inside for hood to pop up. hope this helps, and thank you for choosing fixya.com

My hood will not pop up when i pull release the cable. I can't get the hood open. Any ideas?

If it feels like the cable is attached when you pull the hood release try having someone push down on the front of the hood near the latch. Once the release is pulled out have the person relieve pressure from the hood once you let go of the release. This works for most stuck hood situations. If that doesn't work try having some one pull up on the hood while the release is pulled. This works when the spring has weakened. Once the hood is opened clean and lubricate the latch assembly to prevent further trouble.

Hiya,

This should not only be the answer to your question, but it will also hopefully tell you how to change the hood/ bonnet release cable.

02 intrepid hood safety latch wont release

If you pull on the release handle inside the car and it does not "pop" the hood open, make sure the hood is not already "popped". If it is, then try to push the hood down firmly until it does not pop up anymore. Then, try the interior pull handle again. If the hood is completely closed and the pull handle does not pop it open, try to remove the handle slightly from the dash. This involves removing 2 phillips head screws (one from either side of the handle). When these are out, you should be able to pull the handle and its small trim/holder piece. See if this is broken and try to pull back on the actual release cable ("silver" braided wire) with a pair of wires.

If nothing above pertains to the issue, then let me go to a different one. If the pull handle works fine and "pops" the hood like normal, but you are unable to unlatch the hood, then I need more information as to the conditions of the problem. Has it released properly in the past?

Also, make sure that you are pulling the correct lever when trying to unlatch the hood. Standing in front of the car facing it, the lever will be just to the left of the very center of the hood. It should have a yellow end. Pull up on that and everything should release.

If these ideas do not help you out, then I will need more information. Let me know and I'll be glad to help you through.
