How do I replace the alternator on a 1995 Nissan 200SX? Picutre
Car (1995 200sx ser 2.0 SR20) I'm posting in case anyone else has this issue, but if you have a 200sx ser it's a bit tideous but if your an experienced mechanic it might not be. Step 1- disconnect the battery. Step 2- remove the coolant reservoir. Step 3 pull the radiator hose and the metal piece connected to the motor. Step 4- take the tensioner pulley off. Step 5- remove the passenger side radiator fan it's screwed in place and has an electrical connection it is a bit weird to get out but it'll come out . Step 8- remove the plastic underneath the car protecting the oil pan . Step 9- loosen the nut on the long bolt holding it in place. Step 10 move the belt off the alternator pulley disconnect all electrical connections and the tensioner if not disconnected pull the alternator up. After that go in reverse and hook everything back up and be patient it's a tight fit and be sure to tighten your radiator hose so no antifreeze leaks onto your alternator or it will smoke good luck.
If your problem is not starting, before you buy an alternator...check the set screw in the distributor cap on the rotor first.
