2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, 3.8L with rear disc brakes. I believe the dealer put on the wrong front rotors. The ones he used read a minimum thickness of 22.4mm. They failed quickly. Dealer is standing by his belief that these were the correct ones. Rotors I find online state that they should have a minimum thickness of 25.4mm. Who is right here?

ON most disc rotors the minimum thickness is cast into the body of the rotor and will read min thickness and a dimension. The dimension is also available in the workshop manuals and from the service department of your vehicle. Do not be surprised if you find that your dimensions are almost at do not machine limits as original rotors are not much thicker than the low limit.
Yup! Warped rotors will cause that - and if severe enough, may be felt as a pulsating brake pedal under your foot when you're applying the brakes. Many auto supply shops used to offer "turning" of rotors and drums on a lathe while your waited for a few bucks each. The thickness of many newer auto's drums and rotor is so small that there's seldom enough metal to have them "turned" and still meet the minimum required thickness. That means buying new drums or rotors instead.
just had a 2005 grand caravan in my shop. there is tbi and recall on the front brake calipers for locking and the rotors fall apart, and the same for the rear brakes that i know of
In this tutorial, we learn how to check the brake pads on a 2008 Dodge Caravan, check the thickness of the brake pads on the
car to see if they are thick enough. The rear pad is surrounded by a
gold piece called the "shoe" and the rotor. The front pad has to be
inspected by laying on your back and looking for the pad to see how
thick it is. If the thickness is not enough, you need to replace it as
soon as possible. Make sure the brake pads are up to t
with respect put your head behind the wheel and have a look ,some models should have them and some dont because on the assembly line they had spare stock to use up .Common pratice
For Disc Brakes...simply use a 7mm allen wrench to remove the 2 bolts from the inside of the caliper and use a large C-clamp to put pressure on the hydrolic piston. The two pads slide right off for replacement. Reverse directions to install new ones.
