How do install headlight switch on a 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis? The switch replacement looks the same except replacement does not have the stem that allows for the push/pull action. Is that piece replaced seperately?

Sounds to me that you may need to replace the light switch on the dash. Sometimes the switch will work all of the lights once you get it in the sweet spot but i wouldnt suggest running it like that for long. It will cause shorts and start melting the plastic and could cause a in dash fire. The part is rather inexpencive( i just replaced mine for this problem but it affected the tail lights as well) and easy to install. Just make sure that all of the connections are tight and you should be set to go.

This relay is almost always in the engine compartment relay box. If you don't see it there, please get back to me and I'll look it up.

On the floor board you will find the brake pedal. The back side of the pedal hits a bake switch. follor it to the fuse box and replace.

Sounds like its the switch. But have to check switch , relay and circuit.

It is in the trunk I can remember which side on a 92 but it will be behind the side trim panel almost straight down from the trunk hindge.
