Question about 2001 Isuzu Rodeo

1 Answer

There is no fire going to the in-tank fuel pump. The Isuzu was left sitting over nite and the next when the driver went to go somewhere, the vehicle would crank but not start, after some testing, we determined that the trouble was the in tank fuel pump. So we dropped the tank and replaced the pump. the pump works fine from previous testing .But there is no current getting to it. Both the Fuel-pump Relay and the Fuse are good. I believe the trouble is in the ECM but, a local garage mechanic disagrees. Please, help Me..

Please cut me some slack, I am a real mechanic, and any and all the small possibilities I have already done. So, please consider other things..

When i put gas in a certain point it runs out from underneath

My Rodeo did that and we found that the O-ring that seals where the fuel pump sit's in the tank was shot and leaking. To fix you have to run your tank low and find a pit where you can drop the tank and remove the fuel pump and install a $.50 O-ring......Gary Arnold

Have to regularly prime air out of fuel system to start

Sounds as if you have either a loose hose to the injection pump or a hole in the supply line allowing air to get in when engine is stopped. Check under vehicle after it sits to make sure you see any puddling of fuel. also inspect the lines going back to the fuel tank to see if you see fuel staining. Check the connections to the fuel tank to make sure they are sealed properly.

I have replaced the fuel pump twice in my 1993 nissan pickup. but it is doing the same thing with the 2nd fuel pump it did with the firsy. it ran like a top for 2 weeks then starting stalling out finally...

Pull the pump and check to see if the baffle in the fuel tank has come loose. Over time sometimes the baffle in the tank comes free and knocks against the pump causing it to short and damaging the pump itself. Unfortunately if that is the problem you will have to replace the tank. There is no way to remove the baffle or re-attach it.

No fuel to carb. does this auto have a fuel pump in the fuel tank? where is the fuel filter located? this auto has been sitting for about 5 years

Hi There.
the fuel pump may be in the gas tank,, but if the vehicle has been stood for 5 years, I would strip the carb down and check the needle jets to see if they have corroded before I go any further. they may have even siezed..

In that year of vehicle I wouldn't be surprised if the fuel pump was in the tank. I would be surprised if it was not in the fuel tank.

Fuel pump is located inside your fuel tank.Sometimes if you have involved in an accident there is automatic shut off switch that will kill the fuel pump operations and prevent fire durring accident.Chek your manual for fuel pump shut off switch. Sometimes is located in the Trunk or in front of vehicle on driver side under dash on left side panel.

01 Isuzu Rodeo LS loses acceleration after running for a while

This is a complex problem.

Do you have any repair record of the Rodeo LS?

When is the last

ignition module change?

fuel pump change?

fuel filter change?

DO YOU TOP OFF during gas refuel?
DO NOT DO IT

Are you able to get the OBD-II codes off the ECU?

=======

I will check fuel rail pressure first to rule out the fuel pump

add Chervon fuel injector clear and fill gas to above 1/2 tank

locate the ignition module and apply GOOD amount of white lithium grease to help it from over heat.

When the truck stall again check the temperature of gauage......Engine should be below 195F

Let the module cool and see does it ran well again.

Good luck
