I don't see that happening because exhaust gases are forced away from the engine and that would cause the converter pieces to flow out of the tail pipe not only that but catalytic converters don't get problems from engine running lean it happens from running rich causing excess fuel to burn in the converter and melt it

take it to a different Nissan shop don't tell them what you have been told already from anyone see if they come up with something different also if the fuel pump was the cause of the first problem why was it not replace...was it under warranty if so file a complaint with Nissan (not the dealer) and see what they can do.... also see if there has been any recalls on your truck......... This is a known issue on Titans. The primary cats fail, and as odd as it sounds, yes debris gets drawn back to the engine causing damage.
Should be covered under the federally mandated 80,000 mile emissions warranty. Tell the dealer that. If they don't understand, tell them you are notifying the BBB and go to another dealer.
