You need to clean or replace your idle air control valve(IAC). The IAC allows your engine to idle smoothly by opening and closing a valve that allows air flow to the engine that is monitored by the computer. The IAC get dirty causing it to stick and move slower than it should which causes the up and down idle

Hi my ford escort 1997 1.8 LX carnt hold it's revs it goes up and down and now the rev's are too low and the car turns off iv been told that it Sounds like it might be the throttle positioning sensor{if...

I would go ahead and replace the throttle position sensor since if fairly cheap and easy to replace. the part cost 23 to 30 buck depending on type of brand. If that does not rectified the issue also have the air mass sensor check.

check the accelarator cable isnt stretched (rev the car from the peddle, then from under the hood and listen for any rev differences) although its just been serviced also check that its had a replacement air filter. this could be restricting air.

P Reg keeps stalling

First, check for water in the fuel(a common problem with pwcs). Could also be a faulty pcm or stator, does this model have a fault light?
