Check all your fuses, they come loose and get corroded on these cars often. Give them all a good wiggle to get rid of any oxidation and be sure they aren't blown. If it's not that, check your wiring harnesses.

How did you tell it was only sending spark to # 3 cylinder. Could be bad plug wires or very badly fouled plugs if indeed electrical, or could be an issue with the injectors or fuel system. If not sure. One quick way to test is get an inductive timing light to see if you have a spark pulse on each wire. Please give me more infor and I'll see how to help.
Correct me if I'm wrong but does your car have 2 fuel pumps, one in the tank and one in the line? I might be confusing that with a Volvo. Here's a link to an in line fuel pump for a 528e. Scroll down or search for 528e when you go to the website. THis page also has your charcoal cannister. Hope this helps. Good luck!
give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your car wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.
I have a 1985 bmw 528e 5 series. It won't start and we think it has something to do with the fuel injector. Is there a relay for that or a fuse that would stop that from working? We get gas to the injectors but none going past.
