If you are going to do a timing belt job you should get a book. Along with timing you will need to torque specs. Most parts stores sell manuals for $20. If you dont want to buy a book try autozone.com

I have a 1993 Geo Metro and recently it has a MAJOR loss of power going up hill!

assuming its the engine? is it, and not transmission slipping? A/T?
1:the 60k tuneup in the operators guide done?
the 3 causes are. (takes tools to find which, in most cases.
lost compression , hot engine?
poor spark (weak or not timed right)
poor fueling.
there are simple tests for each.
we can do the tests, or guess?

I HAVE A1995 GEO METRO 1 LITER IN THE MORNING A HARD TIME TO START.I SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS GOING TO JUMP RIGHT OUT.

Your timing belt may have jumped ahead when it could have lost some teeth off of the belt. Check belt and replace if needed.

Ignition timing for 1991 Pontiac Firefly or 1991 Chevrolet Sprint or 1991 Geo Metro

for 1991 geo metro 1.0 liter 3 cyl engine the timing is 6 degrees before top dead center. you will need a tachometer because the rpm must be 800 when you set the timing. also you will need to disconnect the vacuum advance to the distributor, and plug the hose to avoid a vacuum leak. (alternate method is to pinch the vacuum advance hose going to the distributor while you are setting the timing) Good Luck!
