Akternators for a 12 volt systum charge at 13.5 when running from 800rpm to max ??4000rpm and shouldent change as the alternator put out AC current and coverts to DC in the reg on alt but max of 13.5 is all you need at any time at all revs and the battery will not boil or over heat..
Make of truck dont make any differance and milage dosent either as its the alternator thats either faulty or regulator is.
Let me know how you get on Ron

Voltmeter doesnt stay steady it bounces around between 9 - 14 on the gauge. rpms run normally about 500 - 700

what model car have you ,, the rpm seems a little low ...too slow a speed coupled with a loose fanbelt would cause your problem

Need the brake lines coming from the master cylinder for a 1986 gmc1500 pick-up. Are they available as ready to install?

Certainly you can go to a GM dealer and they will sell them to you preformed... but you can go to NAPA or autozone and they can look it up these will be flared and ready to use but you will have to form them but it will save you alot of money compared to dealer part

Tachometer stuck on 4000 rpm

Check your voltage with an ohm meter, or voltmeter while the truck is running to make sure you have proper voltage. It should read around 13 to 14 volts, any higher than that you have a defective voltage regulator internaly in your alternator. If that is ok, then check your fuses and fusable links in your main fuse panel.
Good luck!
