Sending unit which now comes with a fuel pump

If the pump is not the problem, could be foreign matter in the tank blocking the pump filter.

Check the Fuel Sending Unit in the fuel pump. Disconnect the wire to the sending unit, at the tank, and ground it to the car frame. Turn the key to on and see if the fuel gauge goes to Full. If it does the gauge and wire are good and the problem is in the sending unit. If it's still on E the gauge is bad or the wire is open.

it could be the powersteering pump or your steering box on its way out.. i take it you have checked the powersteering fluid level?

THE FUEL PUMP IS SHORTED MOST LIKELY, IT IS NOT THAT COMMON BUT HAVE SEEN IT MORE THAN A FEW TIMES, REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, IT IS INDSIDE THE FUEL TANK, A HECK OF A JOB ON THE GROUND.

It a bad fuel pump and vacume the the tank out . becuse like on my friends the tank had like grit from bad gasket that failed and cloged the pump.
i got 96 it took me 1 year research to figure pumps are **** in all jeeps

You can drop the tank its pain the *** drain fuel first disconnect battrie
you can clean the old pump out with air hose and carb spray it take apart rember all the brown wires label them. The gasket gets old breaks down and clogs the pump cause it to do all the thing to run some time not run hit hill not run.

get new pump online ebay for 100 ore risk cleaning your out water carb spray and air hose it worked for my friends saved him 100

Fuel pump is located in the fuel tank.The tank has to be removed and then the fuel pump and sending unit removed. Then the pump is replaced. Does this help?

sounds like a bad sending unit in the gas tank. While there you may as well replace the fuel pump too.
