Why are my signals and brake lights not working?

First thing that comes to mind, check the fuses.

Page 162 shows where the fuse block is, and the fuse numbers.

Have a 89 ford ranger all lights work except brake lights. I replaced the switch, fuses are good and so are the bulbs. What else could be causing the brake lights not to work??

It could be the turn signal switch, since the brake wire travels through the turn switch after it leaves the brake switch and then goes to the bulbs. That is how you get a steady brake light on one side, and a blinking light on the turning side. The rear turn signal lights and brake lights share the same filament in the bulbs (and the same wire). The wire on the turning side has to first travel through the flasher relay.
If you have a test light, first check for power out of the brake light switch with the pedal depressed. Then check for power in and power out at the turn switch connector-power in on the brake light wire and power out on either of the wires going to the rear bulbs-if no power out, the turn switch is bad-brake pedal still depressed so you still have the signal.

!997 Ford Thuderbird brake lights and hazards do not work

Lets start at the beginning.
The turn signals and brake lights use different fuses but both go thru the turn signal switch and use the same bulbs.
Have you checked the fuses for each circuit and does each switch have power in and out ?

Brake lights do not work. step on brake in park brake lights work. turn right signal on and step on brake left brake light comes on . turn on right signal and no brake lights work. put transmission in...

One of 2 things to have checked, if all your bulbs and connections are correct. 1-stop lamp switch module.
2-multifunction/combination switch (blinker arm/components that are in the steering column). For about a 1/2 hrs. labor cost, a mechanic should be able to test the circuits.

Brake light, reverse light and turn signal issues

Hello. The symptoms you are describing are likely due to a poor ground. Temporarily install a new ground wire by securing a piece of copper wire to the frame with a self tapping screw. Use this ground wire along with the hot wire to see if each of these lights works. If it does, trace the ground wire back to the frame, unscrew it and clean up the metal with emery cloth so you reestablish a good ground.

Turn signal is staying on continuously and brake light goes off

check the bulbs or the sockets for damage
or the wrong bulb
you are getting feedback through the wiring
and that lights up the dash

Left turn signal works until I step on brake. they light up steady both front and rear. When I let up on brake it goes back to normal.

the bulb may be shorted to the other element in the bulb,,replace that bulb and it should go away

Pass. side trailer turn and brake lights out 1999 ford explorer

if your vehicle lights are working all the fuses will be good. follow the cable from the towing socket on your vehicle , it will most likely go behind one of the rear lights to connect into your cars system,
check your tester where the cables join and you should find the problem. hope this helps.

2001 Explorer Sport ,Rear Driver Brake Light and Turn Sig. Broke

Rear lights are double filament bulbs one side for the lights other side for the brake/turn signals so it still may be a bulb. Do u have a test light or volt meter you can check to make sure u have power there when brakes or turn signals are activated. Or just try another bulb.
