They're not shocks they're struts. It requires spring compressors and air impact tools.
Unless you have them and the know how how to compress strut springs. don't do it. It can be dangerous.
It's why it's a lot of money to have it done.

The rear suspension on a BMW Z3 does have shocks, not struts. It's a fairly easy job, just need to remove some clips and the viny cover behind the seats to access the shock upper lock nuts. The lower mounting bolts are accessible from underneath the car.
