Fuel issue on 2001 Grand Marquis

Where can I find an electrical schematic for the fuel system on a 2001 Grand Marquis? Car was running fine. Tried to start one morning and just turns over like no fuel. Expect fuel pump but, want to check fuel cut-off solenoid. Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!

Cut-off switch is not "popped" so I have to assume that it isn't this. I've checked the "fuel pump relay" that is on the left front fender. It works and energizes. Voltage is present on the common contact too. Just want to make sure I cover all bases before replacing fuelpump to find that it was a $2.00 relay or something :)
    Thanks for the posting !!

Most cars have an oil pressure sensor that is tied into the fuel system that will shut off fuel pump if oil pressure is low. Ford is famous for having a yellow fuel pump cut off switch that activates in a collision - you need to locate and check this 1st

I have a 2001 mercury grand marquis. I had the fuel pump changed and the fuel filter changed due to a loss of power like it is running out of gas when i try to take off or when i slow down and try to speed...

P1151 is a trouble code for lack of upstream heated oxygen sensor switch bank 2 (Driver side) indicating you are running lean.
P1152 is a trouble code for same problem, but for running rich.
Hit up this site:
It will tell you about several issues that could be related to the O2 sensor issue.
Since you had the pump and filter replaced, I would check the injectors/fuel pressure regulator. If the engine is starving, something along the line is preventing the necessary amount of fuel from getting in, (sputter and stall on deceleration - lean trouble code) and then a cough and fart back to life on acceleration with a mass dumping of fuel into the engine to get going again (the rich trouble code).
Once the fuel system is figured out, I would recommend an O2 sensor change as well, just in case they got gunked up through the process.

Not sure where the pump is right now I would say it is in the tank, someone else said it is in the engine compartment, but that sound suspicious to me. I would go to the auto supply house and buy a repair manual for the make model and year of the vehicle and get all tools and parts while there that way there is no doubt and you have it for future reference. But I have provided info on how to change you fuel filter I know the answer to that for sure. On the 2001 mercury grand marquis and the fuel filter is under the passenger side rear door right inside of the frame.when you replace it should take about 1 hour to find and 5 minutes to replace. The fuel line comes out of the fuel tank, underneath the car traveling diagonal towards the passenger side of the car.Right before an elbow in the line inside the frame rail, underneath the rear passenger door is your filter there are clips on either end of the filter sort of snap off downward, tug on them with some force, they'll snap down.Have a pan beneath the area.Wear personal safety protection , i.e. glove and safety glasses/goggles.. Be ready for gas to run is only the little bit left in the filter.Pull the lines off and discard the filter properly.Put the lines on the new filter and put the snaps securely back on. Try starting your car let it idle a little while and then turn off your car and clean up your work area and you are all done...

If I can help more let me know.

Hope that helps please rate/score and or place a testimonial to my advice.

My 2001 grand marquis has just cut off earlier ia man came and tapped on the accelerator and it jus cut on now its cut off again WHAT SHOULD I DO I NEED MY CAR FOR WORK IN THE MORNING!!!!

Start with the most obvious. Check the fuel level in the tank. Check there is spark to the plugs. Check your fuel filter to see if restricted. After this, have the fuel rail pressure checked. Download the fault codes and have them analized to pinpoint any faulty sensors. I feel the trouble is in the fuel system, and these checks will show it up.

What is an ignation tune up for a 99 Merc. Gnd.

A full ignition tune up would be new spark plugs and wires.A cap and rotor if it has those. Do any fuel system cleaning before changing the plugs.

2001 Grand Marquis limped home and now won't start.

The fuel pump is located inthe engine compartment. It has a fuel line running to the intake. Usually the top pump with the belt on it. Your fuel regulator, is located on the fuel tank. That you will have to go under the car to get at. No reason to drop the tank. If this helped please rate. Thank you
