Overdrive is meant for use on the highway. Around the town, it is better to drive with the OD OFF.

Drive with it engaged.your engine will work less on the highway and give you better gas mileage.the switch is there for towing or when you need that extra pulling power because it stays in third gear.

Where is the ignition control module on 1999 Rav 4 2.0 L

the car runs two, twin coils with wasted spark
if anyone scrambled the 4 HV wire to the 2 packs , firing order is now wrong.
there is NO ICM here the PCM first the 2 coils in order all by itself and timing advance too.
the cmp and CMP sensor must be good.
the scan tool used will tell you which part failed.
if one crummy OLD HV spark coil wire fails as they love to do
2 spark plugs go dead. and will not run on 2 cylinders good.
to change HV sets, replace them 1 at a time or fail you will
1,3,4,2 firing order it is.

Have a 2008 rav 4 need to know if all wheel dr is 4 wheel dr or when should you use it?

The RAV4 is a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
All wheel drive is when all four wheels have power at all times. This can be permanent or manual engaged. Clutches are used to prevent tire damage.
4 wheel drive is when one set of wheels has power and the other two can be engaged manually or automatically.
You should use 4 wheel drive when in mud or snow and extra traction is needed. 4 wheel drive can not be used on dry pavement.

My 2003 rav 4 4wd is actinmg strangely, sometimes if u r driving, n depress the gas pedal, it doesnt respond, but the rpm continues 2 increase, till after abt 4 secs, it wud kick in, with a soft...

Sounds like transmission fluid and filter needs changing. It's one of the most overlooked maintenance items. Trans fluid and filter should be done every 50k miles. If you tow a trailer should be done 30k. (I assuming this is an automatic transmission. You didn't say)

Engine check light& error code p0301 on my 2003 rav 4,

Unless your computer in your car is faulty... the check engine light came on because it, or one of your vehicle's many sensors detected something within your vehicle was not operating under preset factory conditions. Fortunately, the error code that was extracted was indeed a cylinder # 1 misfire, which is fairly basic. Could be a bad spark plug, wire, etc. or you may have gotten some condensation inside the plug boot. Your mechanic did indeed clear the code, but drive it for awhile and see if it repeats. Normally with a cylinder misfire, you'll notice a small stutter when you accelerate or idle. If your Check Engine light returns, have the codes extracted once more. If the same cylinder is misfiring, have him replace the spark plug and wires.

Toyota rav 4

I work for Toyota, and I will be glad to provide you with the actual answer:

The RAV/4 product is available in two models, a 4WD model and a 2WD model.
The difference between the two is on the 2WD model, there is no driveshaft going under the vehicle to the rear wheels, and no rear differential. There is no "RAV/2"; both models are called RAV/4's.

There is a lot of common confusuion about how the 4WD works. It is full time 4WD. In other words, it is always in 4WD. It does not "kick in/kick out/automatically engage", or anything like that. It is 4WD all of the time. But, when I say "4WD", that is sometimes mistaken for "all wheel drive", and, in this case, the RAV/4 is not "AWD". What this means is that if you raise the RAV/4 up on a lift, and put it in gear, 1 rear and the other side front tires will spin. True "all wheel drive" would have ALL 4 wheels spinning. This is not the case with the Rav/4. What the RAV does have, making up for not having "True AWD" on the 5 speed model, however, is a switch that locks the center differential in the transfer case, which, when engaged, applies a method of "locking" the 4WD system for maximum traction, but it is still not AWD. The automatic version doe not have this ability.
The last "true AWD" vehicle for purchase was a 1970's International Scout.
If you are considering purchasing a RAV/4, that is a very good investement. They hold their value quite well, and are virtually bulletproof; I do not make any "money" off my RAV/4 customers...
Just "gas station work". Very nice cars. I hope that this helps you, please feel free to comment back with any otherr questions...Glad to be of assistance.
