Takeing my cluch and pressure plate out

this sounds like the throwout breaing is going or gone bad and may have lost it purpose of controling the pressure plate, by not being able to select a gear tells me something has gone bad in the clutch system like the bearing which pushes the pressure plate to release the cluch which allow ****** to stop spinning so that the gear can be selected. the repair for this would be to replace the clutch kit. the clutch pack will come with new bearing clutch disc and pressure plate and if needed a polit bushing, the whining noise was a warning that something in the cluch system was going bad.

get a service manual on CD over on ebay for about 5 bucks. jack car way up, drop the drive shaft, disconnect shifter and clutch linkage, unbolt the bell housing from the transmission and remove, unbolt pressure plate and take off flywheel, have flywheel resurfaced and reinstall, install new clutch and pressure plate, replace throwout bearing, put transmission and bell housing back in, connect shifter linkage and clutch cable or hydraulic, put drive shaft back in and you are done.

If it lost power while shifting, and didnt engage, or lost power while accelerating, it is probably your pressure plate.

On the top of the gear box remove the bolts that hold down the shifter plate.Pull up on the shifter and it come off,stuff a rag inside the hole to keep debri out.

It sounds like the pressure plate is not disengaging the clutch completly, if at all. If it makes a grinding
noise when you step on the clutch,( without moving
the shifter from neutral) you most likly have bad
throwout bearing or pressure plate or both. If no
noise try adjusting the clutch. Under the truck, on the
left side there is a 3/8" rod from the clutch pivot assy.
to the clutch fork. Remove the return spring and turn
the rod toword the fork until the bearing touchs the
the plate replace the spring and back the rod off
1 +1/2 turns. While your under ther remove the inspection plate and check for shrapnal, also have
somone step on the clutch and see if everything is
moving.(eng. is off while doing all this. had to say it)
Start the truck and give it a try, if no improvment
you need a clutch job.
One more thing, with the truck on level surface and
the engine off, block the wheel and shift through the
gears, if it shifts easily ok. This was to eliminata
bent or broken shift forks in the transmission cover.

replace them it should fix it.ive been there before!!!!!!!!!!

take the 3 screws for the shifter off remove the shifter and get a flash light and makes sure the grooves are in line for the shifter. if not you can use a screw driver to move them and get them in line. that should work for you. i hope this was helpful
