Display says service electrical and charging system. What is wrong with the car? Is it the alternator or what?

Check the electrical system alternator and battery

Usually means the alternator is not charging the battery.

Sounds like the alternator is wired up wrong polarity to the regulator I would be having an auto electrical specialist bench test the alternator and regulator and then check the wiring circuit for the charging system

Possibly have a regulator problem which is located in/on the alternator on that particular vehicle. Take it to your local "Advanced Auto" store & they can test your complete electrical system from your battery or if you remove the alternator they can test it off the vehicle as well & best part is it is a Free service they offer!
