1998 Acura. Wants to start. Replaced battery 6 months ago. Clicking,lights on dash flashing. Eventually it starts after quite a few tries 130.000 miles. I have never really had any maintenance done tune up ect.

Loose wires to the headlights or fuse panel.

unhook the battery for ten minutes then drive it for a few hours it should reset the pcm.

Do you know how to test electrical circuits with a volt meter ? If you hear clicking ,where do you hear it ? Down near the starter ,,in the under hood fuse box ?

I would have the battery, alternator and starter checked. A battery that is old will do the identical thing you described. Climate and age are a big factor on a batteries performance along with the alternator output to keep it charged.

Most likely is the electronic turn signal flasher unit. When it is working listen for clicking noise it makes that will make you aware where it is under your dash. Try parts store or dealer to buy unit.

The starter is most likely the problem,tap on the starter lightly with a hammer while trying to start the engine,dont get run over doing this it will take two people,if the engine starts,the starter needs replacing.

Probably a bad starter as well. A good battery can make a marginal starter work, but over time the battery will be weakened by the drain of the starter or the starter will get worse.

Remove the starter and take it to your local parts store for testing and replacement. Bring your battery along as the bad starter might have toasted it.

Also a bad battery can wear out a starter quickly.

We had issues like this with our pickup truck a few years back. Replaced the battery, worked okay for a while, then the replaced the starter, worked okay for a while, then the battery was bad. Eventually replaced both and haven't had any issues since.

So when replacing one it is a good idea to check the other.

Could be a fuel pump that is going bad. Some times when fuel pumps go bad they cavitate and pump not just gas but also air. If you get too much air in the line and not enough gas the car won't start. Have a mechanic check your fuel line pressure.

sounds like you are on the right track, the battery you have in it has done well to last that long but it sounds like a fell cells have decided to call it quits

Triple check your battery cables on the battery end .. esp the positive + side.. Side post batteries are notorius for that
