Most carburated engines you don't pump the gas pedal, you slowly press it all the way to the floor one time and release it, then you attempt to start it. The problem that you are describing is an indication that the carburetor needs to be rebuilt. The choke plate has a latching mechanism that is connected to a heater coil, if there is excess wear on the parts or the heater is bad, it has to be replaced
Either not enough air or fuel. Check the air filter and gas filter. Also could be the exhaust system Catalytic converter clogged. No air out, no air in.
Could be the fuel pump. Can you hear it run when you turn the key on? If not sure, pull the gas cap and listen there. If you don't hear it. Hit the bottom of the tank about where the fuel pump would be. If it starts then, replace the fuel pump. Running out of gas will kill old fuel pumps. Check the plugs for spark. No spark, read the codes. Could be coil/s or crank sensor.
Damnnnnn Wes your a mechanic ,you did your fare share of work for a flip car ,start at the fuel tank and clean all your lines if possible use compressed air , change fuel filter, and that all lines are tight, and make sure you have good fuel flow to rack , no bs I really hope you get it running ,good luck.

So you know the fuel pump would have nothing to do with the plugs getting spark, right ? You said the coil tested good, is it getting voltage from the key switch and a ground signal from the distributor ?
The car is either not getting gas or not getting spark. It could be a weak battery, bad spark plugs or wires, bad coil pack/distributor, clogged fuel filter or spark plugs, or a defective fuel pump. These are the most common causes of this problem and and except the fuel pump and sometime fuel filter are relatively easy to replace yourself. Good luck and happy hunting!
