2006 GMC ENVOY starter not turning over, with ignition switch on.

Starter not turning over, with ignition switch on. The dash lights up but the gear shift don't move even with the brake pressed. Exterior blinker lights come on but don't blink and interior dash blinker indicator lights don't come on. It's been acting up for the last couple of weeks.(some time it would start right up, other times it would turn over and not start and some time it wouldn't turn over at all for a few seconds).

Could this be anything other than an ignition switch problem?

The ignition switch is a problem with these vehicles so that would be my first call.

    I am having mine replaced right now at dealer $340 ouch--would start intermittently then not at all after a few days--also changed the relay for starter under the hood in the fuse box 06 envoy

try making sure the dimmer switch isnt turned all the way up.

Left door open on 1998 GMC Envoy, now when I try to turn it over there is no sound. All of the lights come on fine, but car will not turn over at all. Checked the battery and its fine, its 3 years old....
Check the gear shifter and make sure you are in park. If it is possible shift to Neutral and try again.

this vehicle is notorious for faulty ignition switch(electrical portion). also check the wires from ignition switch to where they go under the dash for broken wires if the vehicle has tilt steering wheel.

Try giving the starter a whack with a hammer or end of broomstick if it tries or goes, replace the starter

My 2006 Envoy intermittently wont start when key is turned. dash lights up, but no power to the starter. repeat turning the key and it will start. this problem will not happen for several days. then...
Sounds like a bad starter solonoid, you can have this tested with a volt meter when it will not start.Bad solonoids tend to work part of the time, just like the symptoms you have listed.

check fuses... get a 12v test light & see if getting voltage to starter. did you charge battery? check battery connections. did you spill water one cup? 500 gallons?in console? on engine? on ignition switch?

try car to car boost-battery charger may not be working correctly or set on low amp charge -interior lights and dash may all light but battery may not be strong enough to energize starter have battery tested if battery good than check for power to the starter if power-- starter may be shot can remove also and have tested at most auto stores free if no power battery -wiring-or connection issue would need to test fuse panel-ignition switch and starter solenoid

I have a 2004 GMC ENVOY I got in it started it pressed the brake and could not put it in gear. I tried to turn the ignition switch off but would not go back far enough to take the key out.I have no power...
your ignition is bad, replace the ignition and your problem should be solved....

If your 2002 gmc envoy or sierra will not even turn over with a kown good battery try starting it in nuetral then go back to park and try starting again. There is a park nuetral safety switch that can malfunction. Turn the key on then shift into nuetral, then turn fully to start.
