If the theft light is flashing with the proper key in the ignition then either the chip in the key is bad or the transceiver on the ignition cylinder is faulty. The PATS system is built into the PCM.
Normally, you would insert the key in
the drivers door, turn left, then right
to disarm and reset it. If yours is malfunctioning,
you would either need to contact Ford to reset it, or
you can disable it for good by doing the following:
The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS green/purple |-|,
Located in the drivers door harness or the
drivers side kick panel.
Once Located, splice into either wire with
a simular guage wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.
However, at this point, this car would be exceedingly
easy to steel, so I suggest you get an aftermarket
alarm system to protect it from here on in.
First if you disconnected the battery or dirty corroded connections caused a power failure then it restored itself and you didn't know it or didn't use your key fob to stop it you must disconnect the battery cables and clean up everything including the power distribution box cable and check for loose and dirty fuses blades clean everything once completed reconnect the battery cables when the horn/alarm sounds use your remote to stop it####if you don't have one get one and program it into the system by turning the key from off to on real fast until the door locks cycle then press any button on the remote it will now be in the system you must turn your key quickly in 20 seconds to enter the sequence and you have 20-30 seconds to finish programming up to 4 remotes then the system will time out and exit the programming mode if you already have one or your key is an aftermarket one with a battery it may be dead change the battery in it and make sure it fits tight in the Shell and the contacts are making a good connection the center tabs can be bent up slightly and the side ones must make contact with the top + rim of the battery for it to work properly ok

Try disconnecting your battery cables then wait about 10 minutes. The computer should reset itself. Reconnect the wires to the battery. It is normal for the theft light to blink about every 5 seconds when the ignition key is out or in the off position. This means the system is armed and working properly. Hope this helps. God bless!

With the doors shut, insert the key into the drivers door lock. Lock and unlock the door 5 times. This should reset the system. If that doesn't work you should contact a qualified repair shop.
