Question about 1998 Mazda B-Series

1 Answer

Animals keep chewing up the gas tank and fuel pump on my 1998 mazda pickup. I've sprayed rodent repellent over the tank and put the truck in a garage and they still get it. What else can I do?

This is a very odd situation. Actually I have never heard of such a thing happening. Are you sure it is rodents doing this? Ask yourself why they are attacking your truck. Is there something that is drawing them to your truck? Is there a dead animal under there somewhere? How are they getting in your garage? Something is just not right here.

It seems to have a gas leaks it smells like gas as soon as I start the car this morning I noticed a lil puddle under the car it looks like gas and smells like gas

The fuel lines are under pressure. The fuel pumps in today's cars are located in the tanks. Driving the car knowing that you have a gas leak is not a choice and the car will need to be fixed where it stands. If the car is inside the garage it only adds to the concern.

The most likely cause is animals like rabbits or squirrels or big mice have chewed on the gas line. It must be the ethanol in the fuel that attracts them.

At the dealer this is an expensive repair. A qualified garage with a certified technical may install a kit for less.. Squirrels Eating Wires and Fuel Lines

Your auto insurance may cover the expense and possible towing.

Strong gas odor outside of the car once it has been driven then parked. What could this be ? I have an extended warranty.

This is a very dangerous and serious concern. Do not store car in the garage. I would not drive this car. This car needs to be serviced by a qualified automotive service technician .

One of the most likely causes are squirrels or other types of animals chew into the plastic fuel lines. I have been told it is the ethanol in the gas? Others clam that it is the soy in the wires. Rodents have been reported eating the wires and fuel lines of cars parked at airports?

Where is the fuel tank on my mazda 62500 so I can hit it to attempt to restart it

What?? Hitting the fuel tank won't do anything. Follow the gasoline filler pipe from the gas door down to the tank. Sounds like you have a collapsed filter sock on the pickup tube inside the tank

I have a 1998 Tahoe 2 door. Yesterday i went through the car wash and parked the truck in the garage. Today it wont start. I cannot hear the fuel pump coming on. I can hear and feel the relay clicking....

There is a ground wire on the fuel tank. The only problem with that is that its on the top of the tank. The only way you are going to get to it is to pull the tank and if I went that far id just change the pump again. Sorry for the bad news man but I've put at least 10 pumps in that year and they do go out if you put a cheap on in. Hope when you had the fuel pump in you also replaced the fuel filter.

I ran outta gas on my 1998 chevy silverado v.6 vortec. i put more gas in it and pumped the accelerator a few times and it still wont start. how can i fix it is it simple

Best way to fix it when you run out of gas is this. Because you ran out of gas, means your fuel filter is out. When you run out of gas, you end of getting like a air blockage in the line. Now, professional way is to take fuel filter off and fill with gas and put back on, BUT i will tell you a back yard mechanic secret way. Is get a can of starting fluid ( you can get at any auto parts store) and while someone is in side the Pickup, have them ready to turn the key. You are outside with the hood up, and you will be spraying a little bit of the starting fluid in the air intake of directly in carb area ( if carborated) but just spray into air intake. Have them crank the engine, at same time you will spray starter fluid in air intake, just a couple of quick sprays. You will notice it will start and maybe die again. That is normal, you might have to do this a couple times to get things flowing. HOWEVER, what normally happens when you run out of gas, the fuel filter picks up all that junk that has been gathered in the bottom of fuel tank and it has clogged your filter. FOR SURE, if you replace your fuel filter, it will solve this problem. Thank You, and I hoped this helped you.

I cant get the cap off of my gas tank to take the fuel pump out, how do I get the fuel pump out?

Relieve the fuel pressure at the pump switch located in the passenger compartment under the carpet of the transmission hump on the passenger side. Remove the fuel tank. Turn the lock ring counterclockwise until it's loose and remove the lock ring. Pull the fuel pump/sending unit from the tank being careful not to bend the arm for the sending unit float. Discard the old lock ring seal. Installation is reverse of removal with the following additions: (a)Apply a coat of heavy grease to the new lock ring seal to hold it in place during assembly. Install the seal in the lock ring groove. (b)Install the fuel sender/pump unit into the fuel tank so that the tabs of the unit are positioned into the slots in the fuel tank. Make sure to keep the seal in place during installation until the lock ring has been tightened properly. (c)Hold the fuel sender/pump unit in place, install and tighten the locking ring clockwise until the stop is against the retainer ring tab. - Mazda Pickups Repair Manual

hope this help

1998 kia sportage fuel pump has been replaced by owner, but still will not start. i ckeck the fuse it is not getting power at the fuse near the drivers side panel. also i think some sort of rodent chewed...

If there is fuel in the gas tank, I would remove the bolts holding the upper section of the timing belt cover and pry it back carefully to look for a stretched, broken or damaged belt. If it looks good and snug on the pulleys, then I would replace the fuel pump relay and the main relay and check the fuel pump connectors are properly connected and for a good ground wire and make sure the screw is tightened securely to a good, clean surface that is properly grounding the fuel pump and replace the fuel filter if it was not done with the pump

Rodents chewed the wires leading from the harness side of the connector for the front o2 sensor on my 2007 hyundai sonata. I cant seem to obtain the correct order of the wires as the dealer says this is...

Rataway fragrance stops odors caused
by rats, mice, squirrels, etc... rataway_bottle.jpg
Makes one gallon when mixed
and protects the surface of areas used for nesting.

Rodents and other animals mark territory (your car, house, etc.) with their scent. Animals are attracted by this scent. Rataway fragrance gets rid of the scent. No lingering scent, no more attraction.

Rataway fragrance protects car engines, wiring, boats, motorhomes, machinery, heavy equipment, etc. when sprayed to protect the surfaces

Rataway fragrance is not a pepper spray.

If you are looking for an effective, natural control for odors, Rataway fragrance is it.

Again... Rataway fragrance can be used around children, pets, and service personnel.

What is Rataway Fragrance?Rataway fragrance is a spray that is very offensive to wild animals such as rats, mice, squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, dogs, cats, horses, skunks, and monkeys. Rataway fragrance is not offensive to humans.
