Rebuild kits are not avaliable at most auto parts stores. Your options are to buy a new one or find a local electroncis shop and they may be able to get you a rebuild kit for it. A auto electric shop is probably your best bet.

How do i find what is draini g my battery? Battery is new (6 months) and if i turn car off and have any door, trunk open for longer than 1-2 min battery wont start car without jump

That only means, with your explanation, the battery is bad or has a dead cell. It happens. Have the battery fully charged at a battery rebuilder and have him load test the battery to find if indeed it is bad. If not, have your charging system checked. A test when running should show 14 volts or better, meaning the charging system is good. If the test shows the battery stays at 12 volts, it is not charging and your alternator is at fault.

The alternator is not charging the battery on my 2002 Alero, how do I fix this?

a bad battery would give a wrong judgement of an alternator output. take off your battery and replace with a working one, test your alternator output using a DMM it should read about 12.5 when engine off and 14v when engine start running any figure more or less shows you have a bad alternator or an incorrect input current to the alternator....hope this fixxx it?

Brake and battery light on new battery and alternator installed

Wouldn't be a fuse, but it seems as if the alternator is still not putting out normal power, or else your battery has a problem taking a charge. Better have the battery tested for a dead cell. also see what a voltmeter says about alternator output now. If you have an electrical problem in the wiring somewhere or in the alt. charging controls, then possibly one or more of the diodes in the alternator may got burnt out. That means the alternator puts out less power.
On some newer cars, the engine computer, pcm, controls the rate of charge of the alternator. So you have to be careful diagnosing -know how your system operates. That's why mechanics always ask for year, make, model, and engine size if applicable.

Had the alt replaced on my 98 etc in march. Last month the battery not charging light came on and the car died. Bad alt or more serious problem

If you have access to a multimeter start the car put the meter on range 20v dc or if it's an auto range meter just put it on DC and while the car is running put the meter at the battery pos to pos and neg to neg . it should read between 14 - 14.5 v if it's not the alternator is not charging the battery. If it reads OVER 14.5 It is cooking your battery. I have 2 Cadillacs myself and the rebuilt alternators you get are horrible i replace 2 a year cause the rebuilds are crappy. I used to rebuild them myself but the kits are no longer available.

Astra alternator

Usually an alternator only needs bearings, brushes and possibly diodes and regulator. Most people rebuilding an alternator replace all of them. If you haven't rebuilt one or helped someone rebuild one it can be a little trickey. Some require that you solder the diode plate, others need very precise assembly. Often a rebuild kit costs more than a rebuilt alternator.

While driving Infinity I35-the battery light and brake light came on. Then the car shut off and it would not come back on, replaced the battery but both lights remain on? What can this be?

This is the cause of a bad alternator that has stop working properly and not charging the battery anymore. So the vehicle might be running on battery until it drains it. If car won't start again, that means there is no more juice on the battery enough to start the car. This indication on the dashboard of these light coming on is a nice indication that Japanese vehicle companies have applied to give a hint that Alternator is not functioning properly anymore. Taking the Alternator is very easy and its only held by one or two bolts with battery wire connection attached to it. Taking it to a Alternator rebuilder to get it fix is the cheapest way than taking it to the dealer where as the rebuilder will charge around $40 were as the dealer will charge $100 + for replacement.

I have a 1991 dodge ram b250 replaced battery alternator check fuses checked wires an still no juice from alt can my ecm be bad

if your not getting juice from your alternator then it is bad the ecm doesnt supply the alt with juice the alt produces its own so if its not producing the correct voltage it will need replaced. it should make 14.75 volts in order to keep your battery fully charged ang to keep up with all running accesories. it should put out no less than 13 volts

My ac is draining battery

The battery does not power the a.c. system of the car.
You more likely have a defect in your charging system, either an aging battery beyond 5 years, bad battery connections which are corroding or failing alternator.
The ac runs not on the battery, but on the alternator output, so if the charging system is beginning to fail with the ac on creating extra load the problem becomes more evident.
You can have your battery and alternator tested with the car running, then decide if you want to attempt repairs. I had my RX300 unit tested and redone with warranty for under $150 and reinstalled myself although the space is tight
An alternator rebuild shop will generally overhaul and reinstall the unit if required and save you extra $.
This is not your corner garage and few mechanics will do this work themselves so going straight to a reputable electrical specialist will often be the best method if you chose to have it tested and or rebuilt.
