I am a mechanic working in a shop--have an 86 acura legend with a 2.5---the car will not start--it starts for half a second and shuts down--the cam sensor was destroyed as the cam toothed wheel rubbed against it-(the cam sensor looked melted)--replaced cam sensor---still no start--have no way to read any codes for this car and my manager will not let me use the computer cause he is an idiot--so the ******* expects me to solve this problem with no information---in any case--i was wondering is there a computer reset procedure for the new cam sensor install---also---draining the oil---the oil smells like a lot of gas mixed within---also--no coolant in radiator or reservoir bottle--did not over heat--any help as to where to go would be appreciated as i have no info on this car

Try 2 things 1 fill radiator with water, then pressure test the system if the pressure dropes off you have the water problem solved as compression going to water system and thats why you havent any coolant in car and all fuel going into engine and going straight to sump
as you havent any compression there to fire on ..
Its the same as having 1 burnt out valve so you dont have any compression on that cylinder so it misses and so your down on 1 and running rough As it sounds like head gaskets has either blown or the rings have all broken due to no coolant and run without it so engine ran like a lawnmower Air cooled (which they are not)
SO do number 1 first and if no good then remove heads or engine assy and rebuild..
Let me know how you go and we will fix it dont worry Ron

If theres no water in the oil I wouldnt worry about the coolant right now it could have just leaked out.Could be alot of things .Check for fire after the start and shutdown first with the key still on after it turns off. Then check to make sure the fuel regulator is working and the return line to the tank isnt restricted. Was the camtoothed wheel damaged???Does it have a crankchaft sensor???Is it dual overhead cam???You can reset the comp. by removing batt. cable for about 5 min.

I went to unlock the driver side door of my 91 acura legend and i guess i set factory alarm off.i do not have original key and my car wont start.. help p[lease!!!!!

The alarm must of activated , the alarm is controlled by the locks, go to passenger door and use the key to lock and then unlock the door, this will shut down alarm, you may have to use the passenger door to shut down alarm due to a bad switch in drivers door, this will allow you to start the car, you can also not lock door and alarm may not arm. let me know if the passenger door lock works, good day.

Overheating on my acura legend 1991 i replaced thermostat and when the car idles it fine, as soon as a drive it a mile down the road it overheats blowing coolant out the over flow tank.and both cooling...

Ding ding ding ding! You guessed correct, the head gasket is bad. The usual sign for head gaskets gone bad is coolant mixing with the oil on the dipstick but not so on some of the overhead cams. I just finished tearing my 91 acura down after replacing two themostats as advised by a "mechanic with 20 plus years". Its not the water pump I'd say. Its a tough job to do but a possible one if you have some know- how and a ton of patience. If you are going to replace the head gasket, you may as well do the timing belt, waterpump, and the three drive belts. You're half-way there with the motor tore down. Its VERY expensive for a repair shop to do and you may want to check around before getting it done.
