What does 4.ol OHV mean

the vehicle in the picture i believe is a 1998 -2000 if so ford used the 4.0L not the sohc motor . i just got rid of my 1998 explorier sport 2 door and spent the good part of my life as a mechanic for Ford Motor Company double check the year if you have 1998 to 2001 it is going to be the 4.0L

Firing Order diagram for 2006 Ford Explorer

Hope this helps. The ignition coil:

changes low-voltage pulses from the PCM to high-voltage pulses.
fires 2 spark plugs simultaneously.
has 3 transformers.
- One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 1 and 5
- One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 2 and 6
- One transformer fires the spark plugs for cylinders 3 and 4

Spark plug wires:

carry high-voltage pulses from the ignition coil to the spark plugs.

The spark plugs:

change high-voltage pulses to spark at the gap, which ignites the fuel and air mixture.

The firing order is 1-4-2-5-3-6.

I do not know if you have the 2.0L SOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder, or the 2.4L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder or the 2.5L SOHC V6; however I have included all three below...

Firing order

that is true your firing order is wrong here is a link to a web sight that has all the 1998 explorers 6cyl just click on the one that your explorer is and it'll show you the correct firing order also make sure you have your plugs gaped right good luck.

Firing order is stamped on the Intake manifold nesr the distributor:
1-4-2-5-3-6

Sparkplug gap range is: .052" - .056" (use larger gap in cold weather)
Metric is: 1.3 mm - 1.4mm
