Sorry but , Ford is noted for not recalling the Pinto exploding gas tanks. Internal memo said, "Cheaper to let people burn in 15 MPH crash than accept responsibility" Also look at Explorer exploding tires.
On my Ford, the steering arm snapped off. Zero steering control!! Lucky I was 100 feet from home not on freeway
If Service/Check Light On Have Computer Scanned For Codes
Have Exhaust System Checked For Obstruction
Have Fuel Delivery System Function Checked--Don't Forget Fuel Filter.
Just have one fuel filter. On the 2004 ford explorer the fuel filter is located under the vehicle
on the passenger side near the front of the gas tank, just behind the
catalystic converter.
There is a metal heat shield that must be removed
before you can access the filter. After removing the heat shield there
is a plastic protectant shield that must be removed, then you can get to
the fuel filter.
Hope helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).
First check for vacuum leaks. But your symtoms lead me to think that your catalitic converters are clogged. next time you start your engine check the pressure coming out of the exhaust pipe. there should be a decent amount. put your hand over the end, it should feel like it wants to blow it off. Have someone rev it up, and if the pressure doesn't increase alot then it's your converters. Another sure way to check is to remove an 02 sensor in front of the converter. If the engine performance increases, thats the problem.
My fan stopped blowing too!! I was worried that my compressor had went out. The mechanic said that the blower had burned out and he charged me 169.00 for the part and 50.00 for labor.
