1989 Jaguar Vanden Plas. Stalling on longer journeys

1989 Jaguar Vanden Plas. I can drive the car for an hour and a half, park it for a couple of hours (meeting) and then about half an hour into the return journey the car will stall - it will require about 15 minutes and I can get it to start again, it will run for a few miles and stall again. Basically I have to limp home using this process. Once it stalls it will occasionally start but it will run Very rough and the revs will drop from 2000 down to 0 over a 30 second period, no mater what I try. Short journeys are no problem. Any ideas? Thanks. Greg.

I HAVE A 1989 JAGUAR VANDEN PLAS DRIVEING FOWARD IT WORK PERFECT . NO REVERSE. PLEASE HELP UOT OF WORK

Your going to have to have the transmission checked and repaired. There is a pin inside the transmission that can only be accessed when it is dis-assembled and that has sheared off or there solenoid has faulted inside the transmission. I know this is not good news but that is the truth of the matter.

How do I replace the fuel pump on a 1989 vanden plas

it is underneath at the rear driver side wheel. remove the wheel. disconnect the battery. disconnect the wires to the pump...usually blue. Connections to the pump from the tank and out from the pump are more complicated. Change the fuel filter at the same time. You will need to clamp the fuel line and you will spill some gas no matter what. It is awkward to do it on your back and well worth an hour of a mechanic's time...but it is do-able

Looking for the radio code for a 1989 Jaguar

You can only get the code from a Jag dealer - you'll have to prove you own the vehicle. You need the VIN and possibly the sale documents to prove it's your car.

Leaking valve covers, 2000 jaguar vanden plas supercharged

no there is'nt enough pressure underneath to make it leak try tighting up the valve cover bolts or just getting a new gasket about a $6.00 to $10.00 dollar fix depending on where you go
