There are 3 different engines for that year but the 5.2 and 5.9 are the same but gave you a picture of both anyway. I hope this helps and good luck.

could be a number of things...check the bulbs in the taillights themselves if they are good see if your getting power to the tail lights make sure you have a good ground if your not getting power to the tail lights could be the tail light switch usually mounted on the brake pedal...hope this helps

There were three different engines for that vehicle in 1996, here are diagrams of the 3.9 liter V-6 engine, and the 5.2 and the 5.9 liter V-8 engines both have the same firing order.

I can't help but notice that you say you've replaced the headlight relay? That's quite odd, because there is NO headlight relay on this vehicle- only a 40 amp fuse located in the power distribution box that sits behind the battery inside the engine bay.
The switch is notorious for burning out because there is NO RELAY on this vehicle, and there is a recall (#819) but this only affects 3500 models even though the headlight wiring is the same for 1500,2500 and 3500 model Rams.

Should be an oval or oblong hole at the bottom of the backing plate where you remove a rubber plug,insert a flatblade screwdriver that allows you to turn the brake adjuster,so that the shoes will back off,and release the brake drum.You may turn it the wrong way and actually tighten the shoes on the drum,but you will know that by turning the drum,and realize to go back the other way with the adjuster.Good luck.
