Battery light comes on and off regularly. Local parts store says the battery is fine and charging. Today the car cut out on me twice, once at idle and another as I began to accelerate. Related? Drove other ten miles without any problems -- just the battery light coming on. Thanks for the advice!

This is caused by a loose belt or it can be caused by brushs wearing out and the altanator is detecting a fault with low votage. if the battery is ok try clean the battery cables first then if the light still comes on I would think of replacing the altanator or at leats the brushes and the split ring commutator.

Battery wont charge, battery/ABS/SRS/BRAKE lights come on while driving and flicker. voltage increases to dash lights/fan speed/headlights periodically.

Get a volt meter, start your car and see how many volts your car is producing while running. Should be around 14 volts. May want to watch the meter for a while since your electric seems to fluctuate. Most voltage regulators are internal of your alternator. If you are getting a lot more or less than 14 volts while running, replace the alternator. If it is not charging, voltage will drop as vehicle runs, until battery is dead.

Battery light keeps coming on and off. Checked cables they are fine. battery terminal loose but repaired. Car dies after u turn it off. What is the problem.

Have your Alternator checked for free at your local parts store...The battery light blinking is an indicator that the alternator may not be fulling charging your battery...a good check before you are stranded...Hope this helps.

Hi! I have a gmc Yukon xl that recently the battery light has come on and it reads battery not charging. The car starts fine and runs well, does that happen when the alternator I going out?...

That is correct! Your alternator isnt putting out the necessary voltage/amperage to keep the battery light off.

Have the vehicles charging system checked at a local parts store. They can also do a free load test on the battery. Just to be sure.

The battery light came on when I was idling at a red light. Do you think I need a new battery? Camry 2003 80000 mi

when the battery light comes on, it doesnt Usually mean your battery is bad. it tends to be the charging system. take your car to your local auto parts store and have them run a diagnostic on the charging. they tend to do it for free, and it only takes a couple of minutes.
usually this will happen if your alternator is going out, or the voltage regulator. however, there is a possibility that your battery is not holding the charge anymore, but their test will tell you that as well
