High oil pressure in vw cabrio 1996

No damage will occur. Have you checked the oil pressure with a manual test gage? If not do that and please understand GM oil pressure gages are prone to reading high pressure when the sender is defective.

have the oil pressure checked with an independent gage as sometimes gages in the dash don`t show correct pressure. how long has it been since the oil was changed as oil when it gets dirty it thins out and can affect oil pressure. if you don`t hear any ticking with the motor running chances are the pressure is either good or just a little low. testing oil pressure with an independent gage will tell the tale.

Replace the oil pressure sending unit, they are notorious for this problem.

Pressure regulator in the oil pump is bad or there is significant main bearing wear

All you have to do is replace your oil pressure sending unit.It`s in the rear of the motor by the left head.This is the drivers side.You need a special socket to remove the sending unit.Good luck.

You can't go by the gage on the dash, you need to hook up a manifold gage to get an accurate reading. Did you check the oil filter bypass valve AKA oil relief valve?

that is normal it converts to approx 4bar it is normal should be around 50 at idlr

There are 4 (one front, one back, one left and one right). The driver's side and the front are hard to get to. They will be a combination of metal and rubber. Do not buy used! Weak motor mounts are just as bad as broken ones.
