1994 740 IL no power to fuel pump fuse. I have changed the fuel pump relay, and the fuel injection relay located on the passenger side of the engine compartment under the computers. Still no power to the fuse for the fuel pump. I ran a lead to test the fuel pump it works fine. I have also checked the fusible links near the battery they appear to be ok as well.

Location of relay and fuel pump toyota supra 1989 model

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank. The tank must be drained and removed to change it. the fuel pump relay is on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It is to the outside of the right shock tower next to a large fuel pump solenoid resister.

FYI: the circuit opening relay is in the passenger's kick panel fuse box. The EFI main relay is in the engine compartment fuse box.

Fuse and relay for the fuel pump

The fuel-pump relay unit is responsible for turning the fuel pump on when it detects the engine is running. When the ignition signal stops, the fuel-pump relay switches the pump off. Problems with the ignition and starting the vehicle often can be traced to the condition of the fuel-pump relay.

Description

  • The fuel-pump relay is a small unit, typically enclosed in a plastic case. The unit contains several sprockets on one side that are clipped onto the ignition system. The fuel-pump relay is engaged only during the start cycle. If it is faulty, it can take longer to start your vehicle.
  • Location
  • Most fuel-pump relay units are located under the dashboard near the steering column. In some cases, the unit is located in the area where the steering column is mounted or near the engine's firewall. The end of the fuel pump relay is typically located near the center of the floorboard, under the carpet in the front section of the passenger's or driver's side footwell.
  • Considerations
  • In addition to difficulty in starting the vehicle, symptoms of a poorly functioning fuel-pump relay include the following: the car dies then starts a few minutes later; the fuel pump makes a strange noise (humming or clicking loudly) for longer than five to 10 seconds after starting; or the engine won't start after you have engaged the fuel-pump switch.
  • Troubleshooting
  • When your car does not start properly, you can conduct a fuel-injection relay test. Two relays are located inside the fuel-injection system; one of them is responsible for turning the ignition on without turning over the engine, and the other is responsible for turning on when the engine turns.

You can check to see if the first relay is working by touching it while turning the ignition on and off. You should feel a "click" every time you switch the ignition. If the fuel-pump relay is not working, you can "jump" the unit with a small lead jumper cable. You will need to access the fuse panel and insert the cable into the relay unit; the unit will run as long as the wire is inside the relay and can help start your car.

Where is my fuel pump fuse located? i try to start my car all it does is crank and crank but doesn't kick over. i've already changed my fuel filter.

The fuel pump fuse located under the hood, behind the passenger side headlight. There SHOULD be a bank of 2-8 relays, with some fuses. One of those fuses (in a plastic protection carrier) is for the fuel pump. Its under the hood, passenger side, front of engine, passenger side of radiator, mounted on the relay panel(4or5 boxs)look for a long black thing and pull down on it,a #15 fuse.----------`- Thanks. No power to the fuel pump

Once you check the fuel inertia switch in the passenger's side kick panel, next is to check the fuel pump fuse, engine compartment fuse # 10.

If this checks OK ( power on both sides ), you can pull the fuel pump relay, and jumper it.

The engine compartment fuse panel is where the fuel pump relay is located at ( relay # 301 ). Pull the fuse pump relay out of the socket, and using the diagram below, with the red line, momentarily jumper the Normally open contacts, you shoud hear the fuel pump run. ( mind the pin orientation when doing this ) :
    86000f6.jpg

I had a bad fuel pump relay on my 2001 F-150 @ ~ 36K miles. Replaced with the trailer tow battery charge relay ( relay #302 next to it ) and it worked again.
The symptom I had was a crank no start ( theft light on dash went out ).

If the fuel pump does not run, and power is on pin #30 in the relay socket, next is to check the output of the fuel inertia switch in the passenger side kick panel. The output of this is the Pink w/ Black stripe wire. The connector to the fuel pump inertia switch should be a 2 pin connector, the other color in the connector is Dark green w/ Yellow stripe wire ( that is from the pin #87 in the relay socket in the engine compartment ).

If that circuit has power at the passenger side kick panel, next is to check for power at the fuel pump at the fuel tank. The fuel pump motor is the same Pink w/ Black stripe wire. The connector is a 4 pin connector with black ( ground for the fuel pump ) black w/ orange stripe ( ground for the fuel level ) and yellow w/ white stripe ( to the instrument cluster for the fuel gauge ).
When testing by the fuel tank, make sure you have a good ground for the meter ( extension from neg on the battery or trailer tow adapter ) as that could also be a problem under the truck.

Sorry for war and peace, hope it helps.
