2001 Honda CRV red brake warning light on dash

I have an intermittent red brake warning light on my dash. Seems to occur most regularly when the outdoor temp. is cold. Light goes out after car is driven for awhile. No other problems noticed. Brake lights work okay. Brakes function good. Maybe a sensor problem?

My 2000 accord brake indicator light comes on when cold. Fluid level seems good. The light will go out when car warms up. When I took the cover off the reservoir I noticed that the rubber gasket ring was stretched out and flat in one area. When the cover was installed with the gasket like this I'm not sure if it sealed completely. I went and found an o-ring that fit in the groove around the top of the cap better. Reinstalled cap and light does not come on. Will monitor to see if this fixed the problem. The original o-ring had a flat tapered design and I replaced it with one that had a round design. UPDATE: The next morning it was cool and the light had come back on. I unplugged the wires and removed the cap. I hooked up an ohmmeter to the two leads and moved the float up and down on the cover. The resistance value changed when the float got almost all the way to the top. (The value went to infinity) When I reinstalled the cap I put the meter on the two wires and it indicated that the reservoir was not full. I added a little bit of fluid and checked the resistance again. It indicated that the level was full. I hooked up the wires and the light went out on the dash. Will see what happens and will update either way. UPDATE 10/1/2015: Light has still not come back on. I guess the fluid level needs to be all the way to the top if the float sensor is really that sensitive.

Thank you for this will try. I've been taking apart e-brake switch and cleaning thinking it has to be that switch cause there is enough fluid in the reservoir. Maybe NOT FULL ENOUGH? Thanks will try.

For the Honda CRV 2004, the driver's side automatic window does not go up or down but all other ones do. Please advise.

Your emergency brake is a mechanical brake system that is indipendant of the regular hydrolic system. If the red brake light on the dash is on make sure it's the emerg. brake and not a problem with the fluid level or the calapers sticking. the best way to check the emerg. brake is to rase both rear wheels off the ground and spin them. If they spin, the emerg. brake is not locked up. If they don't spin, take the rear tires off and the brake drums. (you may have rear disk brakes.) check the springs to insure they are all hooked up properly. If there is no problem there, follow the parking brake cable to check for damage. The cable is like a brake cable on a bike, If the inner cable is binding inside the cable sleeve, the brake wont release. If you have rear disc, it's probly a bad calaper. The park brake cable is attached to the calapers. Rember if it wont run it's annoying but if it won't stop, it's deadly. DON"T experiment with brakes!!! If in doubt, take it to a pro.

2001 Honda CRV dash brake light comes on and won't turn off one day, the next day it's fine, then it repeats.

This is also a warning light for the brake system. You may need to replace the brake pads. The light will come one when the brake fluid level goes below a preset limit. It could also mean the brake fluid is just low add more brake fluid to "MAX" line on the side of the brake master cylinder mounted at the firewall in the engine compartment. The reason it turns on and off is due to the fluid sloshing up and down over the low level sensor. Good luck to you

Have a 2005 petrol Honda CRV and the "lights on" warning buzzer has ceased to function. The handbook does not indicate which fuse might have blown. Any help on finding it would be appreciated.

Not a honda lover but its probably easier if you brought that to a shop or check under the dash board drivers side. I dont think its a fuse or relay but a little bell. Now u describe it as a "petrol" Crv if its right hand drive I would presume its located near the fuse box near the foot panels of either the drivers or maybe the passenger side. Its should have a plug attached to it. If this doesnt help buy a repair manual located at the dealer of a local parts store.
