It's possible that when you touched the wires together on the back of the cigarette lighter, you may have blown a fuse that controls the power windows. This is because the cigarette lighter and the power windows may share a fuse in the vehicle's electrical system.

To fix the issue, you will need to locate the fuse box in your Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. The fuse box is usually located under the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle or in the engine compartment. Once you have located the fuse box, check the fuse that controls the power windows. The fuse box cover should have a diagram that shows which fuse controls the power windows.

If the fuse is blown, you will need to replace it with a new one. Make sure to use the correct type of fuse and the appropriate amperage rating. The amperage rating for the power windows fuse should be listed in your vehicle's owner's manual or on the inside of the fuse box cover.

If the fuse is not blown, the issue may be related to the power window motor or a wiring issue. In this case, it's best to have a professional mechanic diagnose and repair the problem to avoid any further damage to the vehicle's electrical system.

Power outlet

I would probably vote for the fuses again.
I don't know of anything else that three components would be connected to other than the ground circuit.
They could be wired thru the key switch and are probably on a different circuit than the cig lighter.

2003 mitsubishi eclipse gt, how to remove the center console to fix the lighter socket? I tried to remove it by taking off the screws on either side of the console, but there is still something securing it...

if the cig lighter socket is not working, it may simply need a fuse. if you have your car's manual, check to see where your fuse panel is. inspect the fuse(s) and see if its blown, damaged or even darker inside than the others. if so pull out the fuse and replace it with a new one. walmarts auto center usually sells some cheap ones but make sure you get the right fuse. super walmart usually has a mini computer where you can find out.

There is no power at the diagnostic connector of a 2003 Mitsubish Eclipse GS that I am working on. Any ideas?

Check the fuses, I'm not familiar w/ Mits., but I have run into 2 repairs where the diagnostic port would not provide engine codes to scan tool, both times it was a bad fuse, so no power at port (thought my scan tool was broken!) . One car (american manufacturer) had the fuse shared with the cig. lighter, check your fuse diagram to determine which one it is on your car. Hope this helps, good luck.

Cigarette lighter plug not working

hopefully nothing serious. if you can, make sure your wires did not burned or got too hot.Visually inspect them. Then, if you have a voltmeter check to see if you getiing power to it. no voltmeter? Go to your nearest auto parts store and ask for a test light. Back to the lighter, if you have power on the wires or wires leading to the back of the lighter, more than like it you lighter burned out.  No power on the wires? make sure wire did not get fryed or burned, all wires look good? check fuses again.  worst case scenario, can't find problem ? you can run another wire from your fuse box to the lighter.

Please help me with power in cig lighter

Hi, grab a voltmeter and test volts at car lighter connector, near to car lighter socket, if there is volts in there (uncommon) , then check for short or broken contact on car lighter socket, or replace the first socket connected in line.

If there is no voltage getting to cig lighter, check the two connections at the back of the fuse box, on the cigarette lighter fuse.

If there is volts only on one side, then fuse is gone again, in that case there is a short on wiring, maybe on one of lighters, locate it and fix it.

If there is power on both sides of the fuse, then fix or replace wiring between fuse box and cigarette lighter, one wire is broken.

If there is no power on both sides of lighter fuse, then fix the wiring between fuse box cig. lighter contact and battery, if this is too complicate you can even build a new wiring and solder in place of the old one.

If the lighters have more than one fuse, do the same job for both lighter. Cig. lighters do not use a relay, and there is no additional fuse, the above procedure is enough to fix any possible problem on such a simple device.

If you have no practice with this kind of repair on car electrical system, then better to go to a car electrician or mechanic rather then messing up the car electric system.

Please do not forget to leave us feedback afterward, that is important for us.

Many thanks.
