You need to buy the service manual.

cars are built to your countries laws, not mine in USA ever)
that means too all wiring, smog , lighting and all.
built to a countries laws.for on road use.

now what enigine is there, (covered in the manual "service")_
Polo mark5, 6R
sold with 11 engines NEW and these sage wiki words

"Production of the Polo Mk5 in South Africa was announced in November 2009, producing five-door right-hand-drive Polo.[8] As the result, the South African-made Polo was exported throughout many right-hand-drive markets, including UK, Ireland, Australia, Singapore and Malaysia"

SO my guess is cars VIN shows car is African made and exported

coolant is engine Centric
and none are the same for sure fan relays.

some fans only turn on, at 220F (104C) or more, you do know that correct? staying off saves FUEL, (and by laws now on low carbon)
the same manual tells that and exactly when it does and may have a fuse.
no VW dealers near by, if yes, near ask them for the manual.
id never buy any car not in my town. after all vast parts are only sold by them.

The vin on your car if you google vin decode (NOT usa SITES)

Hi i have changed the head gasket on my vw polo and now it is overheating on every journey the fan doesnt seem to come on any ideas what it could be as i have put new temperature sensors and thermostat and...

Hi Marie.

Test if there is voltage to fan motor with engine hot (use a test light or a Voltmeter). If there is 12VDC to fan motor and motor does not turn, then the fan must be replaced. An alternative way to test the fan would be energizing the motor by connecting it to 12VDC. If fan does not run when motor is energized, then the fan is defective.

If fan does not get power fuse, fan relay, thermostat and wiring must be tested. If you have already replaced thermostat, test the rest.

Check the fan fuse first. Most VW use a 30 Amp fuse located in the fuse plate. Refer to the car owners manual for fuse location. Depending on the year of your Polo there is a Coolant Fan Control Relay on the main relay panel. If the relay is good it must power the fan when the engine is hot. Before going for the relay check that two of the relay's contacts are getting power. If there is no power to the relay and fuse is good it means that there is a wiring problem.

Regards.

Cooling fans do not run normally or in AC mode on 2003 VW GTI VR6

Check cooling fans not faulty - run freely.
Check the operation of the cooling fan control relay.
Replace relay, and observe if this fixes the problem.
