2004 Lincoln Navigator. No brake or # 3 brake lights all of the others do. Fuses are okay, the brake switch is okay.

How do you know the brake light switch is ok ? Did you check (with a voltmeter) battery voltage at the switch.

Inspection and Verification

  1. Verify the customer concern.
  1. Visually inspect the following for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

    • Central junction box (CJB)
    • Brake pedal position (BPP) switch
    • Multifunction switch
    • CJB fuse 2 (20A)
    • Circuitry
    • Stoplamp bulbs
  1. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  1. If the concern is not visually evident, verify the symptom and refer to the Symptom Chart.

    PINPOINT TEST H: THE STOPLAMPS ARE INOPERATIVE
    Test Step Result / Action to Take
    H1 CHECK CIRCUIT 10 (LG/RD) FOR AN OPEN
    Disconnect: BPP Switch C278.
    Measure the voltage between BPP switch C278 pin 1, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and ground.

    Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    Yes
    GO to H2 .

    No
    REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
    H2 CHECK THE BPP SWITCH
    Connect a fused jumper wire (20A) between BPP C278 pin 1, circuit 10 (LG/RD), harness side and BPP C278 pin 2, circuit 511 (LG), harness side.

    Do the stoplamps operate?
    Yes
    INSTALL a new BPP switch. REFER to Brake Pedal Position (BPP) Switch in this section.

    No
    REPAIR circuit 511 (LG). TEST the system for normal operation.

04 navigator has no brake light

First, check the bulb if they are busted. Next is to check the fuse box and locate fuse for either stop lamp, brake light or other label that pertain to stop lamp, they may be busted too. Then, check also the wire connected on the brake light switch. It could be worn out already.

Brake lamp switch may be faulty bridge the two wire together and see if brake lights come on if so get a new switch.

does the 3rd brake light in the back window work? check fuses if fuses are OK and the hazard lights work, then the turn signal switch may be bad. I dont know what your sons suburban (trailer?)has to do with your navigator?

Brake Light Doesn't

Yes. Look on the brake pedal lever under the dask. When the brake pedal is pressed the switch is engaged. This is easy enough to replace. If you see two switches, the other one is probably a switch to disable the cruise control.

check your fuse i think there are two of them. if fuses are good it mit be your turn signal switch
