Depending on the mileage, the most common problems are low fuel volume due to a restricted fuel filter or weak fuel pump. The other possible cause is a partially clogged catalytic converter, which puts back pressure on or "boggs" the engine when trying to accelerate.
need more info if high mileage on original fuel pump check pressure because if pump is not pumping enough fuel it will not open fuel pressure regulator and will give you same issue
Possible failed fuel injector if the code is for one cylinder only. Multiple cylinder misfires can be caused by low fuel press. Another possibility is a vacuum leak at intake runners.
Have you changed the fuel filter? I know it sounds weird but a plugged filter will make a truck use more gas. The computer tries to compensate for less fuel by commanding the injectors to open longer. Also a plugged filter will cause excess back pressure on the fuel pump making it loud.. Good Luck.
Plugged catalytic converter
