When I disconnected I didn't have enough juice in the battery to lift the jack up.

26rr th camper was plugged in for 3 weeks once I got home and disconnected from the truck the battery juice was around 9.6 volts. i had to re connect to the truck and start the truck up in order to get it off the hitch

You did not say what type of battery. Lead acid, ni-cad, lithium etc. All batteries have a service life and time, charging and heat as well as discharge cycles, shorten this life.. So consider the age, exposure to heat and whether or not they are constantly on charge mode and then decide if you need to replace them

I have a 36ft winnebago Chieftain on a F53 chassis. I need to replace the fuel pump in the tank but the leveling jacks seem to go around the tank any idea how I remove them to get to the tank. If at

I dropped the tank on a 34' Fleetwood with the same situation. The jacks were welded on so there was no removal option. What I did was (1) Cut eight 4x4 s into 12" sections. I bolted 4 sections together to make a "pad". One 8" 4X4 makes two pads. (2) Then I pumped the fuel into drums. Free drums are easy to find. A cheap 12V fuel pump and tubing is available from any auto supply. (3) I raised the camper on all 4 jacks. Than I retracted one jack, set a pad in place under it and extended the jack fully. Clockwise I put pads under all the jacks one at a time to make a layer. Then I put in another layer of jacks, round and around, and continued until the camper was up 4 layers. (4) The camper could "roll" forward off the jacks at this point because the wheels were off the ground. I attached a chain to the camper frame and took tension backwards using a come-along chained to a tree. (5) Then I got some pallets from the grocery store trash and put those under the tank. (6) I loosened the hangers for the tank and let it down on the pallets slowly. The hoses have to be removed before the tank drops very far. I worked the pallets out one layer at a time to lower the tank to the ground. (7) I could reach the pump mounting plate so I just removed the screws and lifted out the pump and gasket. (8) installation was the reversal.

If I had to do it again, I would take it to Camping World or a truck garage. They have lifts to raise the camper and jacks to raise and lower the tank.

I think it's doubtful that your starter is draining the battery. Once your starter is engaged upon start up, it is done with its job, and it is not needed until the next start up. It does sound like your starter is going bad. If all of the electrical parts seem to come on when you trying to start it, it should have plenty enough juice to start it. One possible cheap solution is it could be the starter relay. The relay takes power from your battery and routes it through to your starter. If this isn't working, your starter isn't even getting any juice. I hope this is the problem. I have seen many starters replaced that should not have been because fo a bad starter relay. You would have to Google that info on a Monte Carlo. I could not tell you where it is on any Chevy.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE A FUEL PUMP

It's not the easiest car....


  • Raise the hood to access the engine compartment. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.

  • Locate the drain plug at the bottom of the fuel tank. Open the drain plug with a crescent wrench. Allow all the fuel to drain into a large drain pan. Tighten the plug when the tank is drained.
  • Raise the back end of the vehicle by placing a jack under the driver's side rear door. There is an indented spot that is braced for the weight of the car. Chock the front wheels to ensure the car does not roll while lifted. Set the parking brake.
  • Place a second jack under the fuel tank to prevent the tank from falling to the ground when the straps are removed. Ensure the jack is in the center of the tank.
  • Unbolt the two straps with a socket wrench. Place the straps out of the way once they are removed.
  • Rest the tank onto the jack. Lower the tank enough to access the fuel lines and electrical wires. Separate the fuel line from the top of the tank by pulling the tabs then pulling away from the piping that holds the line in place. Disconnect the electrical lines from the tank by pushing down on the locking tab at the connector and pulling off from the connecting harness.
  • Slide the tank out from underneath the car. Lower the car until you are ready to install the tank.
  • Twist off the cap at the top of the gas tank with a counterclockwise movement using a large set of channel locks. Place the cap to the side and discard the O-ring.
  • Lift up on the fuel pump assembly to pull it out of the tank. You may have to tilt the assembly to pull it out comfortably.

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable and lay it to the side, ensuring that it does not touch metal. Jack the Prelude up and support it with jack stands. Remove the left front wheel using the lug wrench. Remove the lower splash guard using the appropriate socket.
  • Place the block of wood on the floor jack, then push the jack under the engine. Jack it up enough to contact the oil pan, to support the engine. Remove the accessory drive belts by loosening the accessory drive belt tensioner to relive tension on the belts. Lift the belts off the pulleys. Remove the left engine mount using the appropriate socket.
  • Unbolt the speed control actuator, but leave the control cable connected. Lay it
  • out of the way. Remove the alternator wiring from the valve cover by lifting it out of its wire loom. Unbolt the valve cover and carefully lift it off. If the rubber gasket looks dry, rotten or has cracks in it, replace it. Remove the upper timing belt cover using the appropriate sockets.
  • Remove the power steering pump, but do not disconnect the power steering high- and low-pressure hoses. Lay the pump out of the way. Work the dipstick back and forth to pull it out of the hole. Lay it aside.
  • Number the spark plug wires so you know where they go when you put the Prelude back together. Pull the wires off the plugs. Remove the plugs using the spark plug socket. Stick the long screwdriver in the No. 1 cylinder spark plug hole--the hole closest to the timing belt. Turn the engine crankshaft counterclockwise until you feel the piston push the screwdriver up to the top of the piston bore. The screwdriver will stop moving when it is at the top. Check the timing marks on the flywheel. The pointer located in the hole should line up with the hash mark on the flywheel. If not, turn the engine over once again until the piston is at the top of the bore, and the marks will line up.

    Go under the hood and locate the battery. Use an open-end wrench to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery. Once the negative terminal is removed, remove the positive terminal in the same manner.

    Use the jack to lift up the front of the vehicle and set it on jack stands. Be sure the front of the Volvo is completely and solidly on the stands prior to working on the vehicle. Locate the starter on the lower side of the engine block, just below the throttle body. Disconnect the electrical connections on the starter using the open-end wrench.

    Unbolt the starter assembly using a 3/8-inch ratchet, extension and socket. As you're removing the last bolt, hold the starter in place with one hand, as the starter is heavy and can be tough to lift.

    Is it a slide in camper? and if so there should be jacks that go at the 4 corners above the truck box. you lift the camper up slightly and drive the truck out from under the camper. The jacks could have been removed and stored in the camper under a bench seet in the dinett.

    open trunk, disconnect rear trunk light. use jump box and connect wires to pos neg on jump box. this will give u enough juice to open doors, I have done it twice. easy to do

    In that case, whenever u take it for a ride and return to your nest, lift the hood and disconnect the battery terminal which I would recommend having a clip(spring loaded clamps with metal jaws) removed from the battery. Next time you use it, first reattach the clamps to the batter, and start normally.......sodeep

    Sounds like dead battery cell Have bat checked.It's not a good idea to disconnect the battery on a modern computer controled vehicle while the car is running.
