So been having some on and off issues with a 2003 Chrysler Sebring. I'll drive it down to the store and sometimes it wont start when I get back in it and sometimes it'll be a week or two until it does it again. Usually about 2 hours later it'll start. Well today I found myself stuck at Sam's Club after shutting off the car and pumping my gas. Hop back in and it wouldn't start, great. Had to push it out of in front of the pump so others could get their gas. When switching the ignition from off to on you can hear the fuel pump kick on, then when switching from on to run there is a high pitched noise coming from looks like the PCM. Almost reminds me of a Nokia ringtone. Figured I'd disconnect the positive and hook it back up to hopefully get it to run, but had no tools. So, while I was waiting for an employee from tire service to come out with a 16mm socket, I decided to check the wiring. On the back of the engine I noticed this wire that was not connected to anything and thinking that's not right. It's connected to what looks like a fuse and where it looked like it connected is an L shaped metal piece bolted down to I don't know what. When trying to hook it up to the metal L piece it didn't fit but I was able to jerry rig it and car started right up. What could it be? Tried looking everywhere online and found nothing but I might have to post a picture or a video to get some help on this one.
The wire and credit question has a metal tab that comes out of the fuse looking object has a 90° Bend and a hole this is a ground you can be pretty much mounted anywhere there should be a gap on the back of the fuse looking object LOL that slides down onto the metal bracket however your problem sounds more like a bad connection on the starter which on a 2.7( most likely your engine size( is located on the driver's side directly under exhaust manifold it is a gear reduction starter a bad connection there will heat up then will not be able to start until wire cools and makes contact again
Testimonial: "I’ll have to look into the starter then but that does sound like what my issue might be. Because I know a bad starter when I hear one. However, there is no sound coming from the starter. At least there is no clicking, just the weird noise that sounds like a dog whistle. Hell, might not even be the PCM making the noise. Could be the starter if it’s located on the right side of the vehicle."
