2010 Jaguar XF 3 liter Diesel. Water in diesel warning light?
Water in Diesel warning light on dash.
Replaced the diesel filter for a new one, no water in old one. I replaced the 'water in diesel' sensor for a new one.
I reset alarm on the dash but it came back on! I believe Fuse T43 is the one to check so put new fuse in.
Still alarm comes on, so I disconnected the electrical supply to the sensor under the filter, and the alarm resets but comes back on when the engine is started, aaarrrrrrhh !!! What am I missing wiring looks ok?
I don't think it's that common, I've never had it on 3 Jags but I would check the actual fuel and maybe get it tested if it's causing problems, if not I wouldn't worry as you're refuelling regularly. Sensors are quite sensitive by nature and can be oversensitive, might just be a little condensation.
Try Oilsyn Hybrogen Road Diesel & Petrol Fuel Conditioner. It's only around £6 in the UK, made by the makers of Archoil and it may just help.I don't think it's that common, I've never had it on 3 Jags but I would check the actual fuel and maybe get it tested if it's causing problems, if not I wouldn't worry as you're refuelling regularly. petrol/diesel? any warning lights on. you will probably have to have a diagnostic scan to point you in the right direction. could be anything from a blocked dpf if a diesel to a blocked fuel filter.
To remove the oil filter on a diesel you remove the cover from the top of the engine and you should see a plastic cylinder in the centre of the engine with a 30mm hex nut moulded on to the top of it. Simply unsrew it and pull the filter out.
Petrol engine you remove the undertray of the underside and you should see a white metal filter by the sump. Unscrew
