My 97 Toyota Celica won't go out of neutral

It is stuck in neutral. Won't go in any other gear. Sounds like it wants to grind a little bit won't move at all. The engine now sounds like it's running rough. The oil and coolant is fine

No engine told and worse no transmission told
let me guess car has clutch pedal 99% here in USA never seen nor dreamed of ,right and I have one too,for 6 decades me,
first one for is honda motor cycle and 30 + others later.
all cars with any M/T box the clutch will fail. all do about 2 times longer lasting than a A/T box, my record is 150,000 miles
but was only a clutch slave cylinder bad.

your clutch is bad.
do the 2 man test.
but first, see if DOT4 fluid leaks on MC , bothsides of fire wall
MC = master cylinder for the clutch
the look at the slave at the bell. no leaks, never have I seen one now leak at 25 years old that be impossible ever.
the 2 man test, you pump the clutch, pedal
and person 2 looks at the slave and most move about 1 inch. 25mm
click see slave work here ,it must move fully !!!!!

..........
replaces it must be bled just like brakes.
see the rod, that is what moves. (slaves goal1)

96 celica won't turn over

If the engine won't crank, it could be the starter, battery, connections, neutral safety switch, or key switch.

My 2003 Toyota Celica started acting up. When I go to crank it, it hesitates and then it won't go over 40mph. What could be wrong with it?

You need to check the Transmission. If it doesn,t work Your car wont go past the 1st gear or will not run.

My 2004 chevy cavalier won't start it is stuck in

Your shifter cable sounds like it separated from the transmission or shifter or just broke. you are probably stuck in a moving gear so the neutral safety switch is disabling the ignition.

My car won't start sometimes and when I move the gear shifter a little it starts right up. Is the neutral safety switch bad?

No, It sounds like it is working fine, just a little worn out, A lot of cars have to be coaxed into park to start. Just moving the shifter will do it, the switch itself is very sensitive, as you have found out. It only has to move a fraction to lose contact. It is a fairly easy job to change if it drives you nuts. But I wouldn't fix it till it breaks. It is located on the left side of the tranny where the linkage hooks up. Hope this helps.

Electric aerial on 1998 Toyota Celica

The grinding noise means that the gear in the motor slides over the retracting shaft, you will probably need to get a new one.

Won`t go into 4th gear with out force

If it grinds going into fourth then it would most likely be a synchronizer inside the transmission.
