Vauxhall Vivaro Van 53 plate. When I switch the wipers on to intermittent, they do more than one sweep. They sweep several times and then do not park in the correct position. Can you tell me if the problem is motor related or is there a timed relay somewhere. I have located a type of small multi plug ecu next to the steering column that clicks when switching to park.....Help please. Steve
Re: Vauxhall Vivaro Van 53 plate. Wipers not Parking
Had the same problem on my Vivaro, the wipers would stop anywhere on the window at random locations. My main dealer changed the wipermotor and now its fine.

Do you know what a wiring diagram is ? A wiring diagram for your vehicles windshield wipers electrical circuit would show all components involved . You would need a wiring diagram for testing ,so you know which wires too test . It would show the fuse location - amperage etc.... Which of these is your vehicle - Notchback or hatchback or station wagon .
The fuse would be marked WPR fuse # 9 25 amp. located in the IP fuse panel . IP - instrument panel fuse box . It's location is
Fuse Block - I/P
Behind the left side of the I/P access panel
Windshield Wiper System
The windshield wiper system consists of a wiper motor, a linkage, a wiper arm and a blade, and a wiper/washer switch. The windshield wiper circuit incorporates a self parking device which consists of a worm gear and a cam plate in order to keep the circuit engaged temporarily when the switch is turned off. The wiper system is driven by a permanent magnet-type motor. The windshield wiper motor is mounted on the dash panel and is directly connected to the windshield wiper linkage.
The windshield wiper motor has 2 speeds, LO and HI, and also has intermittent wiper capability. The wiper switch is an integral part of the wiper/washer switch. Windshield wiper operation is actuated through the lever on the right side of the steering column.
It was a dark and stormy night . . . . actually it was. I had been experiencing someproblems with the intermittent wipers on my '88 F 150 the past week and that ...
A little trick to try is untightening the mounting bolts of the wiper motor and then retightening. Sometimes its a matter of re-establishing a good ground.
The wiper parking problem is an internal wiper motor function. Some electric contacts are suppose to derail the motor and it is suppose to cycle into the locked position and turn off. Its last movements are automatic.
The intermittent part of the problem can be the contact switch on the turn stalk but there is a timer box on some models which the stalk switch controls. Some wiper motors have the timer box beneath a shield on the wiper motor. Those controls can be changed.
sounds like the wiper are seizing or having low power. you need to make sure voltage is reaching the wipers and there is no corrosion on the connections. check wiper servo for corrosion .
One should check the tires, if they are good (threads should be checked/air pressure gauged). Once you have that all done if the shaking is still there you need to check the suspension, shocks, struts, ect. Lastly, if there is nothing wrong and all looks good then you may consider the inner/outer arms and rear axel also can be a factor. Overall, a local mechanic should be used to diagnose this type of car symptom can be tricky to actually be certain. I hope that helped.
