How to get to a blinker relay in a 2007 Pontiac Torrent

Three of my blinkers are not blinking. I was told my blinker relay is in my steering column but I'm not sure where or how to access it. I can't find a video showing the process or any articles doing so. Also, my drivers seat is no longer powered moving forward and back and no longer heated. I'm not sure if this is related or if it's an add-on to my misery but my hatch won't open. Has anyone had this problem before and how did you fix it? I can't put my car in the shop because I just spent 2 grand to fix other problems I had unrelated. Does anyone know how to get to the blinker relay? & Yes all bulbs and fuses related have been replaced, Thank u

There is no relay .
Turn Signal/Hazard Lamps
The body control module (BCM) is responsible for controlling the turn signals and hazard lamps. When the turn signal switch is placed in either the left turn or right turn position, the BCM receives a signal from the turn signal switch. The BCM then sends an on-off voltage signal to either the left or right turn signals and their instrument panel cluster (IPC) indicator. When the hazard switch is pressed, the BCM receives a signal from the hazard switch. The BCM then will send an on-off voltage signal to all the turn signal lamps. All the turn signal lamps will flash including both IPC turn signal indicators. The sound for the turn signal indicators is produced by the radio.

Do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop.

Thank you... I've spent hours... days researching this and speaking with people that said they knew what they were talking about. You are the ONLY person that told me the right information and explained it. Thank you so much.

My next question is can any shop fix this problem? I was read somewhere it may need to be fixed by the dealership. OPS problem was similar to mine but not exactly. Do you know how much a repair like this would cost? The sad part is that I just paid two grand on repairs and as soon as I got my car back this started.

I've already wasted too much time listening to fools whilst turning into one of them by tearing my steering column apart for nothing. After spending hours in the freezing cold and turning blue I learned two things. I found out that the sound was coming from my speakers and not under my steering column like I was told (You were right about that too, of course)

I also learned to turn my car on a few times while using my interior lights. After a few hours of researching while I was taking apart my steering column, I killed my battery. So lesson learned... take your car to a shop if it takes more than a few hours to research and solve the problem.

No, it doesn't have to be taken to the dealer, there are other qualified repair shops that can probably do a better job than the dealer, you just have to find one. I tell people the only time to take your vehicle to the dealer is when it is new and under warranty. I worked for dealers when i first started as a tech. back in 1984 - chevy, Cadillac, Pontiac, GMC.

One other note here, if three out of four blinkers aren't working it wouldn't have been a relay problem anyway, more likely a wiring problem. This could be a simple problem or not, tracing out electrical circuit faults can be time consuming, So I really couldn't say how much this repair could cost, myself I would tell you let's start with one hour diagnostic time, $86 dollars an hour.

sound is produced by the chime module ??? No it's not , the radio does on request from the BCM .

What year was the chime module discontinued?

The audible warnings alert the driver of a system concern or a critical vehicle condition. The radio generates the audible warnings. The BCM receives audible warning requests via the class 2 serial data line or the controller area network (CAN) data line. If the BCM receives multiple audible warning requests, the warning with the highest priority sounds first. The following lists the audible warning priority and the pulse rate:

Fast rate chime--200 pulses per minute
Medium rate chime--150 pulses per minute
Slow rate chime--50 pulses per minute
    Single chime

The torrent was made from 2006–2009 an never had a chime module.

I can't find my flashers in my 99 dodge caravan..They are somewhere in my dash. My blinkers and hazards are not working. I've replaced my fuze and blinker relay, also the switch on my steering column

Three places they use to hide them. On the front of the fuse panel, on the back of the fuse panel and hanging off the steering column under the dash, close to the firewall. I don't know the year they started, but the hazard switch has the flasher built into it.

Blinkers wont blink change the relay fuses ok

What about the turn signal switch on the steering column? Did you use a testlight and check voltage at the turn signal fuse? Goes hot when you turn on the key.

A lot of times, it's the turn switch or wiring in the steering column, but, It don't hurt to check the basics.

Why would the flashers work on a dodge ram but not the blinkers

If the blinker light is turning on but not blinking the most likely cause would be the turn signal relay. The hazard and turn signals have a seperate relay so this may be why one is working and the other not working. I do not have a diagram but I can tell you that both of those relays are directly in the fuse panel right under the steering column. I hope I was able to help

Sounds like blinker lights is always on/2001 grand am se

You can clean the switch without having to replace it. I had the same problem and for about $10 worth of cleaner, grease, and cotton swabs I fixed it. Check this website for very detail cleaning instructions and pictures. You have to register as a user to get the pictures.
