2004 Dodge Stratus SXT 2.4. My problem is that the car runs fine with the heat on, but with the heat off the coolant in reservoir starts to bubble. When I turn the heat back on it stop bubbling.

When it starts to bubble the temp rises I never let the temperature go over halfway.

Take the radiator cap off, run the engine with the heater on full. Keep topping up until the radiator fan kicks on at full power. You should hear a click and hear the fan roar. Turn the engine off and top up again and replace the cap. This gets all the air out of the system and make sure the radiator core is full with no air.

Another possibility is that the thermostat is stuck, or the water pump is failing.

There is a sensor that turns the fans on. Test the fan with wires to the battery.

Yes, the engine coolant temperature sensor makes the fans come on when the temperature rises to a preset limit. If you unplug it, it will never work! " bad eat "??

I have a 2004 dodge stratus 2.4 l sedan. Coolant bubles out of reservoir

This just started happening or ?t just started getting noticed ? Someone ran it hot ? How's it running ? Temp ? Need more info. Autozone rent a tool (free) - compression tester. Spark plug out, threaded fitting goes in, then hook the gauge and get a reading. Repeat process 3 more times. Cost = $0
First thing I'd do.

2004 Dodge Durango 5.7 hemi over heating i have replaced radiator, fan clutch, hoses, radiator cap, 3 thermostats and water pump whats next

Sounds like head gasket has gone. Hot gas from the fuel combustion is being forced through holes in the head gasket into the cooling system, causing hot bubbles in the coolant, sniff the bubbles blowing out of the reservoir, does it smell like fuel?

Car shuts down while driving and will not turn over after cooling down will start up and drive normally till it gets warmed up again

run fault codes for faulty sensors. Check coolant level at the radiator cap (not the reservoir). There is a sensor that is shutting down the engine from an over heat situation.

My Dodge Stratus 2005 is leaking coolant. No trace to be found. I discovered last week that the whole coolant reservoir was empty. Yet the car's temperature was at normal level. There are no trace

Look in the radiator in the morning when car is cold take off the cap if it is full then look at the reservoir and make sure you see to lines on it one you fill to when cols the other you fill to when how it will say hot and cold fill lines fill yo cold when it is cold then next day check and see when cold if it is at the same mark

I replaced my thermostat housing it was cracked and my car still bubbling but temp hand still does not go over half way can u plz help

hello...the bubbling is probably a little air that is still in the cooling system that entered when you repaired the housing. Fill the radiator up to the top, fill the reservoir bottle to the high line. Drive your car normally for a 3-4 miles, paying attention to temp gauge. Park a let engine cool. Top off coolant levels again as needed. As the air in the radiator is circulated out, the coolant in the reservoir will be drawn out to replace it....that is how it's designed to work.
Hope this helps---good luck with the stratus.

Type of coolant for 05 stratus sxt

Any standard antifreeze coolant will work. If you live in the lower Midwest USA as I do, you can actually mix regular antifreeze 50/50 with water and you run no risk of it freezing. Detailed mixing instructions should be available on most antifreeze containers.
Best of luck.

2004 Dodge Stratus 6 cyl 2.7L Overheating at idle

Try blowing the radiator core out with compressed air from the engine side to remove bugs and other debris. Make sure the fans turn freely with no noise and that they both come on when the engine heats up. Make sure the radiator cap has a good seal underneath. The three items at the end of your post are not likely. Check the radiator coolant level after it has run, then cooled off--it should be right at the top of the filler. If not, replace the hose going to the reservoir.
